I have a zenith TT model. So no.
I never cared for the new model white dial with the silver ring sub dials.
Now the new C model with the black ring sub dials pecks my interest.

the secondary market is going to be flooded with the current Daytona. There is no way this will not effect the price.

Keeping my black 116520 and getting a new black ceramic daytona.

its like Ferrari 458 and 488, they look similar but very different in small ways.

I'd think now would be the worst time to flip a 520. Apparently there are already a crap load up on Ebay. I'd think at this moment the price has taken a hit so now is not the time to jump ship. I'd wait and see. The new one will be more money (not sure if the price has been released yet) and certainly largely unavailable for quite awhile even after it hits stores. Even then there will be very little discount for a couple of years at least.

Sell your 116520 for the new daytona?

I kind of prefer the 116520 design as it looks more classic and timeless.

after the knee jerk, we'll know what the market feels after things settle down in the next 3-5 years.

Now the 116520 looks bland, I cannot wait to rid it.
I just hope your wife ages well when you reach a certain age.

She may get dumped for a younger model.

I think 75% of the ADs will receive a max of two 116500's in the next 12 months.
Perhaps the Rolex boutiques will receive 6 but not the mom and pp non-chain ADs that will sometimes negotiate the price.
I really hope I am wrong on this but I do not think a discount will be a part of the conversation if you can find a 116500 for the next 1 1/2 - 2 years.

Same plan as mine. Value wise, I think in short term the old SS model will decrease a little bit due to the sudden impulse flood but in the long run, it will be going back even higher than now, especially NOS in going to be rarer and rarer.

That is a very big assumption, quite honestly. It is impossible to even know how many 520s are out there unsold through ADs...and I certainly would not expect many ADs to be getting any in upcoming shipments from Rolex. From experience I would say the number available would be unlikely to "flood" the market.

I noticed the dial for the black are exactly the same for new and old. so I can just pop one of these on and viola I get a black ceramic.

This seems right. Since the DBlue came out I think most ADs have received 2-3 of the model. So maybe a AD could get 6 of the DaytonaC in a year, but I am going to guess more of like 3 of each color, for 6 total.

Kind of like when they changed the Sub?

There may be a short term dip in prices, the old ones will still be in demand years from now.

The fact that they were purchased for less makes them a better long term hold.

I have been confirmed as #1 on the wait list at my AD. And since I bought a black dial last year, they're considering me VIP. I'll take it.

I have a feeling these are going to be more available than that. I could be wrong, but I think those who really want them and can afford them will be able to get them before 2 years time.

check ebay there are already over 400 on there. The Daytona is not a rare watch anyway. The Trusted Sellers on here have plenty both BNIB and pre-owned. This model was made in some form for what 15 years now? There are going to be a lot of them floating out there now. I don't think that is a huge assumption.

The issue with the Sub is some folks didn't like the new thicker lugs and case. There isn't an issue like that with the Daytona so that isn't an apples to apples comparison.

Well, I like the new 116500 Daytona.

But I will not sell my 116520 black dial- no that I did not like the new cerachrom bezel or the overall look but i believe 116500 does not offer much afterall!

First, no Panda dial; second, 116520 still has the best chrono caliber on earth: 4130

I would only flip mine if the new 116500 would have had real panda dial and a better caliber!

And actually, I would prefer the cerachrom bezel a little thinner!

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. The ceramic bezels were not interchangeable on the previous editions of the GMT or Sub so I wouldn't expect they will be on the Daytona either.

I'm looking forward to seeing and possibly buying the new version, but I don't think I will be selling my currect White SS.

I would like to see the new face with dark sub dials and a SS bezel.
