rarity means nothing if there is no actual (or ongoing) demand for the item.

Yeah.... No one knows the story behind that watch. I could have that exact logo added to a Daytona and then there would be 2. Don't buy this one one bit

This is actually a great point - If it really is 100% discontinued now, it has a shorter production run than just about any Rolex model listed here...

Might pick up one and sell as rare vintage piece in 20 years...

The white dial PanAm GMT 6542. It is so rare it's not 100% certain there were ever any of them.

Sarcasm? Sorry I don't get the joke here. Am I missing something? Some fine print or some small details somewhere. I have one of these. Same reference. Can't be rare. I've seen hundreds.

No lug holes on mine. Perhaps lug holes make it rare as you point out. Although I'm not entirely sure whether lug holes, or the absence of them improve the structural integrity of the watch and bracelet. Both the 16610 and 16610LV have seen much rotation while diving with the LV used more at night. I know it's just a minor thing but the slightly larger hour markers make me treat it as a night dive watch. The difference in lume is probably imperceptible to me. But that's the extent of my superstitions.

The point is that there never was any 16610LVs produced with lugholes (outside that one press material photo).

Rolex Explorer 14270 'Blackout'. The rarest sapphire-crystal Rolex and the only modern sport Rolex to use silver dial printing. Only about 30 are known to exist:
