Trying to find matching box for 1982 Oyster Perpetual
Hello, I inherited a rolex watch that my father owned. He worked at a Pawn Shop for many many years. The watch was given to him by his former employer for his outstanding work. The watch I believe was taken in pawn and not picked up. So the watch did not come with anything besides the watch itself. So, I am in the market for a box that it would have come with when new. I think I may have figured out what kind of box it is suppose to have. But I wanted to make sure.. Attached is a picture of the watch. I think it is a 1982 Oyster Perpetual. Can someone point me in the direction of the correct box? Papers would be outstanding too, but maybe I'm asking too much? Thank you in advance!!!

A Bufkor USA-made box if it was sold within the USA. The photo below is an early 1980s box. This box was replaced a year or two later with an identical looking box but with smoother, faux-grain cowhide.

That's a Rolex GMT Master reference 16753. "Oyster Perpetual" describes the case and movement, "GMT MASTER" is the name you're looking for. You'll be in about $200-$275 for a good bufkor box

Congratulations that is a very nice GMT (nipple dial). As others have said you should be able to get hold of a box, booklets, wallet, calendar and tags (at a price!!). If you would like "papers' then the best you will be able to do is to have the watch serviced by a Rolex Service Centre - they will then provide you with a guarantee card. Good luck with your search.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673 It is part of the vintage rolex forum(VRF): http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593 I am not a member there, but I read the forum daily and scan the market too. I have bought stuff on the market, as usual, buy the seller. |
