Excellent points on both sides of the coin. Boils down to what do you really want...when you know, go get it.

I may be wrong (I often am!), but I believe it does according to ISO 6425 which is the international standard for diving watches.

I found the GMT to be most comfortable, but the SD is fine (even with my small wrists) and the quick micro adjustments on the clasp are brilliant.

As for those that say it's too similar to the sub; differences that spring immediately to mind:

1. Satin dial (which is amazing in the right light)

2. Fully graduated bezel (so qualifies as a true dive watch)

3. No date cyclops (not against the cyclops, but prefer it without)

4. Thicker crystal (gives it more presence)

5. Thicker case back (sits it slightly off the wrist, which is a slight niggle)

6. Thicker case (gives it more wrist presence)

7. Helium Escape Valve (cool feature and a nod to history with Comex)

8. Divers extension (useful if diving with it)

9. Raised end links (some like, some don't, I'm not a big fan)

10. Depth rating of 4,000 ft

11. Narrower lugs (gives the SD much rounder look)

12. Shaped crown guards (much more stylish in my view)

Sure there may be others, but that's a lot of differences (not all good, but mostly positive) - not sure how many differences people want??

As for the price difference - I never see anyone moaning about paying £300 - £400 extra for a different colour bezel on the BLNR or the different colour dial and Bezel on the Sub LV - but for some reason people have an issue with the extra for the SD.

All to their own of course, but I like it and the differences above make it worth the extra in my view - and in addition, in four years of owning an SD I have never seen another in the wild, and yet I see Subs and GMT's every day - I like that.

Appreciate the additional information. I'm heading over to my AD in the AM to pick up the SD. I'm pumped and won't get much shuteye tonight!

I'll post the obligatory pics tomorrow evening. Also picking up a pair of diamond earrings for my best friend for our 30th Ann. Married while in college and raised three awesome boys. Tragically lost our oldest son a few years ago but life continues.

Appreciate all the great watch wisdom on this forum.

Cheers!

Congratulations on your decision damoore and nice that you recall, even in this moment, the loss of your son years ago.

Regarding the two watches, I have an inkling that the new Sea Dweller will be a future classic. The proportions are right and it looks a little smaller than the Sub, despite its thickness, which works for many with smaller or average sized wrists.

Brilliant. Date is officially not a deal-breaker anymore with the subND. Thanks!

It's really more comfortable, for me at least :)

Best picture taken showing the size difference between the two.

Now, can anybody do the same pic between the sub and DSSD???

I switch from the SD4000C to the 114060. Mainly because I couldn't stand position of the date window of the SD4000C. I find it positioned too much into the dial. Other than that, it is a fantastic watch with slimmer lugs.
