Deepsea or Deep Blue?

I want one of these to be my next. I can't find a deep blue in my area to see one in person. Is the premium on the blue worth it? Any input is appreciated!

Deep Blue is beautiful but you can pick up a nice preowned black dial for $8k. Hard for me to justify the price differential

The price premium is incredible

Will supply ever catch up? Or is this what Rolex does, such as with the BLNR, limits supply to some models to make them desirable

And I've seen a used one, they're beautiful, but was around $US2,500 premium on a new one (that you can't buy anyway) here in Australia

D-Blue is amazing and worth it. Pictures do not do it justice. Bought mine in December 2015.

There was an identical thread on this a couple months ago before I got my deep
Blue. The overwhelming majority of people here will say if you have the extra money for the blue, get it. That's what I did and I'm very proud to wear the watch, it's awesome. In most lighting it's a black dial then the blue comes out in higher light conditions

I think the colors are worth it, especially if it will be the fun, summer piece.

D-Blue is amazing, but so is the black dial. I still can't decide which I like more, but I lean towards the classic black.

Both beautiful watches... I've got the blue and my brother bought the black. I love the additional flair that the blue color adds to the watch. I have noticed that the black version looks sharper in poor lighting than the blue version does. The blue almost looks like a faded black (still nice), but not the same kind of clarity as the original all black DSSD.

I had the black then bought the blue in January and I think it's worth. Small difference in detail makes totally different and this is true for other Rolex vintage models.

it's all subjective, but the blue is well worth the premium to me.

I much prefer the D-Blue. I was never really drawn to the black dial but when the D-Blue dial came out I thought it looked amazing and the splash of colour really made it pop and brought the watch to life for me. I haven't worn one enough to know if I'd be happy with the size of it though.

Quite right.

However, the D-Blue is a dial variant of the same model watch that JC wore during the dive.
It's produced to commemorate the deepest solo dive in history.
No claims have ever been made about the D-Blue dial variation being worn during the dive by anyone or organization.

Given the above, It actually doesn't matter what variant was worn during the dive.

Not taking into consideration it's inherent beauty and uniqueness of the colour transition, it has a different personality in different lighting conditions which is a delight to behold.
The major factor is the D-Blue is hard to get anywhere at the small premium of the RRP.
Due to low supply levels it's exclusive unless one is prepared to pay a healthy premium in the grey market. In which case one could probably acquire one within a week depending upon the market.

I prefer the Dblue. I was wondering, does anyone have an idea what is the smallest wrist size you could wear a deep sea on and not look like a fool? Im 6.75inches and i thought it looked impossibly big for me.

I would do this as well. It's really nice to have a backup to your daily watch for variety (like maybe a nice Datejust??) but be sure to get what you really want. I know that I'd rather do without than associate any regret with my beautiful purchase.

The premium on the dblue is decreasing lately.
I guess the fad has diminished.
I would go with dblue since it is more one of a kind dial. Can go with SD4k for the black dial.

My view (unqualified) is that the Deep Blue will have better long term residuals (if you care about that). However, in terms of the design standing the test of time, the Black Dial is a better bet.
