This is the link. The watch looks genuine. It claims to be a "Y" series and he claims to have box and papers. The seller has a feedback rating of 99.2% with over 990 sales and they have been sellers since 1999. They generally sell golf items, some jewelry, and some watches. A lot of stuff they sell is cheap or cheaper so it's unusual to see a high ticket item amongst the other stuff. Still a tough decision on a high buck item like this. Terry Newton

Err buddy Terry...although benefit of doubts should be granted...
it's still difficult to understand...why the Seller isn't able to take clearer n closer pictures of the watch...especially when it's a high ticket item... |

I emailed him and asked for the original pictures... Some people are eBay stupid when it comes to posting pictures... But as you mentioned, with 900+ items sold they should have had it figured out by now!

Please see what the Seller has to say about this odd looking bracelet/endlinks setup...n where are the authentic Rolex markings for the 18K WG Bracelet n Case too...? Ask him for the clear closeup picture of the Original Cert in one of his pictures posted on his listing...which might indicate if the watch was originally fitted with Diamond studded Dial n Bezel... |

This reeks other than what i said about him claiming it is a "Y" series with box and papers. The pictures are lousy for a seller that has sold many things. Terry Newton

I reported it due to the bad photography and lack of ability to see the cyclops and date for proper magnification.

Also one would see that the Dial on the watch...is partially marked as "T Swiss Made T"...which would be incorrect for Y Series 2002 year made. The bracelet looks to be a cheap reproduction with Lady President bracelet n endlinks...n one would see that the hologram sticker on its caseback is crappy as well... The original warranty cert should also come with punched nos n references... |

In 2002 didn't they have the other type of bracelet as well? The one with the exposed clasp? |

Seller emailed me... See my response (read from bottom up):
******** Hi, I noticed that the auction was cancelled… I know that eBay is very aggressive with anything Rolex when anything looks questionable… As for the authenticity… I was unsure with the information and pictures provided… There does not appear to be a second hand in the pictures, which is a sure sign of a counterfeit… Also, I spoke with a few of the Rolex people in the know about these things and they thought a few things didn’t line up… These were their comments: *** Ref 79160 should be Lady Date Just in Stainless steel case, not White Gold with diamonds studded Dial/bezel WG bracelet...? Also one would see that the Dial on the watch...is partially marked as "T Swiss Made T"...which would be incorrect for Y Series 2002 year made. The bracelet looks to be a cheap reproduction with Lady President bracelet and end-links... one would see that the hologram sticker on its case back is crappy as well... The original warranty cert should also come with punched nos and references... *** If you are going to relist it, I’d suggest taking the watch to an Authorized Rolex dealer (the list is on their website), and having them write an appraisal for it… It will probably cost you $50 or so, but would obviously pay for itself if the watch is genuine… Keep me in the loop… If it is indeed authentic, then I’d be interested…. Thanks, Steve ************** From: XXXXX Sent: Wednesday, July 09, 2008 7:59 PM To: Steve Subject: Rolex Watch Hello, Just wanted you to know that I am very upset and have asked Ebay to explain to me why they removed the watch from my listings. They have made a big mistake, I have never and never will sell a fake anything..........not sure why they think I would after being such a long time member and not having that type of history. Anyway if you're still interested we can continue on, if not I understand. Did you think if was a fake? If so why........I would like to know for future listings. Thanks! |

Well done, all. I agree with the astute observations that have been made by all trf members. I only want to add that, at least for me, the dial looked very bad, the printing seeming somehow "off." Although the clincher, imho, is/was the badly executed crown logo on the dial ... its "roundness" and several other aspects of its presence were very consistent with bad fakes. Anyone else think so?
