Here are a couple more photos as requested. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'like curved inward near the base'. I always thought that these hollow end links were susceptible to bending and so sometimes they can look out of shape?
With regards to price, I paid top end for the watch, chrono24 will give you an idea. Considering the scratch and some other small defects I think a little overpriced. But from what I have seen the 'SWISS' only dials seem to be a bit more pricey since they're less common. BUT if they agree to replacing the crystal then I'd be happy. Will have to wait and see till tomorrow. |

Unless it's a rare dial, and or a financial steal, seems like alot of effort trying to justify a purchase!!! May be better off looking for a similar one.

I had waaaaay more scars than that by the time I was 17!
Looks good to me, gorgeous in fact. Based on my reading of your reactions I'd be talking to the seller on the crystal issue and peg a goodwill gesture towards the replacement as the minimum threshold of acceptance/keeping the watch. Good luck with your decision!

And yes, the watch is utterly gorgeous. I love the simplicity of the dial, especially the 'swiss' makes it even more minimalist lol. It is so comfortable too, I put it on and felt like I wasn't wearing anything, the watch that is, not my clothes |

Thank you Tim and Richard. Both your 2 Liners look amazing. Love the blue nato, love just how simple and easy it is to change the look of the watch.

Everyone can say what they want, and compare it to what it would look like if it were perfect, but the only way anyone can give you real advice as to whether or not it's worth it and you should keep it is if we know what you paid.

Well the price has a little to do with it. As I've said it was higher end of the scale. But not many 'swiss' dials are about so for that reason I think the price is alright. If it were a Swiss t<25 or Swiss made dial then it would be a different matter and I'd understand your point.

I paid $4,600 for a mint, 2 line Swiss made, a year and a half ago. I put no value into the "Swiss" dial. Just a point of reference for you. |

I wouldn't pay any extra for a Swiss-only dial.

Looks nice to me. Wear it and enjoy it, as you said yourself it is a gorgeous watch and has character.
Watches this old will not be perfect, and if they are they will be very expensive. As an example, my 14060 is far from perfect. It has a scratch on the crystal, the case has been polished, etc. But it's been my watch for 16 years and I love it even with all of its "flaws". |

Ok, so you knew the watch wasn't perfect. You asked for critiques. If you are happy with it, depends on the price and whether you plan to just keep it.

The 14060 is an awesome watch!
Now, based on the price you paid vs. market prices, you may be able to find the exact same watch in better condition. Then you have to decide whether you want to ask the seller for a discount and get the watch fixed or return it and go shop somewhere else.

Well after much deliberation, I decided to return the watch. There were some good comments made by members, so I'd like to thank everyone who replied.
I don't regret it since I have decided to save the money and put it towards an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak instead, which I have listed over for a long time so I'd rather work towards that instead. Maybe there will be another 14060 in my future. Thanks to everyone. |

Glad you made a decision you're happy with...and as you can see no one is short of opinions here. That said, I think you received some sound input and advice.
Why AP!?! Stick with Rolex!!! |

Happy that you're at peace with your decision, you know that once you stop searching another one will pop up! I know that you were smitten with the Swiss only dial but if you are able to look past having to have that your options will be much greater. Keep us posted!

You never missed anything buddy. I never mentioned those details in the thread. I love my Rolex too, so we're on the same boat. I just like a little diversity in the collection. An AP is a fine timepiece, especially that bracelet!

I also like the earlier dials too. I was actually more into those at one time because of how the dial gets a nice patina over time.
Time will tell where I go from here ;) |

Polish job was pretty bad in regards to the lug details but it's ok. The bracelet is in great shape.

I also have a "Swiss" dial (16700). There's not much value in that, but it is a nice difference. I'd wait for a chip or a service before replacing the crystal. The polishing on this watch does give me pause.

It is a nice piece but you can see it was just polished IMPO, has a scratched crystal, no service history, the bracelet looks okay to me not bad on the stretch but if you paid top dollar you should not have those issue's and a receipt for a recent service lots of pieces that are priced at top end do have that. For those reasons I would return it and move on I think you could do way better for a top dollar piece. Just my personal opinion. Good Luck..

I you do return it I'd recommend finding one that has the correct kit (i.e. box, manuals, etc...). As you noted that is not the right box for an A serial Rolex. That box & cushion was introduced in the mid-2000s.
It would be like the one in this pic that I grabbed online. |
