Happened to me by a store clerk gentlemen who wears over a dozen large Invictas. I just said Thank you and moved on. The next time he saw me though, he apologized and somehow realized it was a Rolex. I told him no worries and complimented his watches. we laughed about it all.
On the other hand, when i walked into an Invicta store here in NJ to replace a battery (ugh I know lol) on one of my son's watches (giant Invicta Venom) , the sales guys said to me which Invicta is that? The Pro Diver? lol I said No, this is the real deal and gave them a quick glance. The room iced over... LOL

Just about every popular Rolex model out today, there is an Invicta rep. It's not uncommon for people to have no idea that they are exactly that. Many don't even know what modern sport Rolex models look like, they just think Rolex look like the older 1601 date-just. It is what it is, just have to roll with it.

I think there's a lot of truth in that. Even though Subs are apparently common (for a Rolex,) the zillions of other similar looking dive watches muddy the waters quite a bit. I don't think anyone has ever mentioned my Sub, but people used to comment on my old silver stick/face DateJust all the time. I prefer being more anonymous and wearing the Sub.

I would've replied "the same place I'm going to get my next watch."

If he calls your Rolex an Invicta and genuinely meant it, he probably will think its a fake. So you did best by not conversing with a fool.

Perfect response. When your "High End" is Tag you don't get it anyway!

I'd simply give a polite nod & smile and say "Thanks, but it's not an Invicta..." and then go on about my way. This acknowledges the good intent inherent (hopefully) in their remark, but gives them something to think about. :)

The polite two words: "Thank you", always with a smile.
