Are Rolex prices lower in Non VAT countries?

The price list at top of forum says they arent?

I was under the impression that if Tax was lower then price is also lower?

has this changed?

They are cheaper here in Jersey as there is no 20% VAT. However, there is 5% GST. Cheaper still in Guernsey where there is neither VAT or GST.

I bought 3 Rolexes in Europe because its about 15-18% cheaper than buying it here in the States. I'd imagine its the same for you.

I lived in Gibraltar and on the Main Street there we only a few watch dealers with comparatively limited selection. We got a couple of Omega watches and bargaining, even as a local, produced little. Only one place was selling Rolex and at the time stock was limited, but you never know. Great place by the way and possibly the best place we ever lived.

UK Islands are an exception, because they are VAT free, but follow UK prices. Other VAT free countries (HKG for example) are the same price roughly as EU prices, EU just has VAT included.

Prices in Jersey/Guernsey/Gibraltar etc are roughly the same as prices in Heathrow.

Spoke to Geurnsey and they are about 17% less due to VAT. They have no stock of SS Daytona and have 4 people waiting and wont add any more to list due to having 8 year wait on old Daytona. They will want about £19,000+ for a solid gold one.. seems alot for about £1000 of metal!

What a joke...

You're in the wrong game if you are concerned about material value in a luxury market.

when you return home and tell customs you bought a rolex, the customs fee negates any savings... a <$300 savings is not savings unless you're already traveling for other reasons.

and Alpino can't possibly know all the discounts around the globe... he just shows MSRP

Was in Munich airport last weekend and offered about 15% off precious metal Rolex timepieces, then of course you deduct VAT :) No discount on SS models. On the other hand, reliable grey market sellers within the USA are about the same final pricing so...

So would that be 17% less 15%?

About £17,700 then?

I can live with that but id like the Cera bezel on a full gold watch. Rolex are dragging it out...

probably not the smartest statement on this forum since there are a few customs agents that are members on this forum I believe.

It is also against the law sooooo with that said....

Really not bothered.

I dont live in the US. Nor am i scared of the ones in the UK. I pay enough tax so if i can avoid it on a purchase like this then i will happily.

You'd get just over 5 troy oz of pure gold from a full-linked 116528 18ct Daytona.

Gold prices are waaay down on previous highs but there's still around £5k pf precious metal in the watch.

BTW - £13k is the street price of a mintish example, a few years old.

£18k is top whack. Buy preowned and save yourself flaming on the forums.

13k isnt bad.

Id take it 2-3 years old if you can find them for that. Any ideas of good places?

You can't live with £19,000 for a £1,000 piece of metal, but you can live with £17,700 for that same £1,000 piece of metal???

There's two on ebay uk currently for between £13 and £14k, not as new as you'd like but there again the dealers have a direct number and an offer of £12k odd "cash" would not be out of question.

They are out there, you just need to be patient. Watchfinder/Watchcentre/Blowers etc are going to be more towards the £15-16k mark for a 2011/12 and I'd bet they'd buy them at £11k.

Hence £13k is the right price not to "take a bath" in the future.

You can claim back the GST tax back if you go to Hettich Jewellers

i paid £5,250 for a GMT BLNR and then claimed back £250 in tax, making the total £5,000

alot cheaper than UK even with the £100 same day flight thre and back

First the 15% from dealer, then the VAT on that.
