I would call out the AD right here, and never spend a dime with them again.

Jesus man you have spent well over $100,000 with them and they pull that stunt. I would phone them and speak directly to the manager/owner, calmly and politely state what you discovered and that you do not appreciate the situation. At the very least I guarantee that you get the next one.

Hahaha

I would just wait for ur DaytonaC to come in (better than getting on another waiting list)... Pay for it (since there are no discount anyways)... Let them know what happened, and that they lost u as a customer.

Then walk out and never return.

Also if u don't mind, share the name of this AD

This is exactly what I would do. as soon as my CC was swiped and the sale is final. I would thank them ever so much and let them know that this will be the last watch I'll ever buy from them because of their dishonesty.

It is also suicidal, so I am intrigued to what their explanation is. It could be they just thought they could get away with it and so they sandbagged one of their best customers, or it could be the manager and senior sales people were away that day and the junior sales guy selling it didn't know about your deposit. I can't really think of any excuse that is acceptable really, best case scenario is they are just wildly inefficient and incompetent. Wouldn't deal with them again.

Strategy is simple, as of Royal repeat customer will get it later then the new clients. Stores has to move their old inventory. I'm sure you will get one eventually, just be patient.

OP you are an extremely nice fella. It would take me at least 24 hours just to calm down. Unfortunately I'm sure I would have paid them a visit before the 24 hours ran out. Please let us know how this turns out. I'm really sorry this happened to you. It's most certainly not about a watch at this point.

As other have said be cool and calm, but definitely address it. You're a serious and loyal customer and should be treated as such. Tell them politely that you're upset and there are dozens of other places to bring your business.

See what they say and how they respond. You might be pleasantly surprised, and if not, there literally are dozens of other options for you. Keep us updated and best of luck to you!

I would demand discount on the Daytona as they deceived you. They are obviously free to do business as they see fit, but then I would inform them that they have lost your business forever.

I have a super sneaky suspicion that my AD would do the same thing. I also "#1" on their list.

And I also do a lot of business with them.

Truthfully though, I am not sure that I would care. It is a tough world and AD's have to deal with a TON of BS.

They now finally have a watch that everyone really really wants to get. So instead of tons of people shopping for the best discount, they are in the drivers seat.

AND they want to please everyone. Especially their bigger customers.

IMHO, cut them some slack. Call them out on it, tell them that you totally understand but that you are understandably disappointed. I bet it will work wonders.

But for sure, don't sweat this. Its just a watch. And no one is purposely disrespecting you. They are doing the best they can.

I like your suggestion. I bet if you approach it in this manner they will have even more respect for you as a person & customer and get you that Daytona very quickly.

I agree with all of this. The main issue I would have is if they in fact did lie - the whole "we didn't get one yet" line while they apparently did.

My AD management is playing some kind of game with the one they got - I think the salesman I deal with was frustrated about it - and what annoyed me is I felt I was being fed a line of BS about it. Be honest, tell me there are others being taken care of. I'll be pissed but I'll "get it" and get over it. But don't play games and lie.

I hear you, and I can relate.

However, we can never tell exactly what happened in many situations. Maybe someone just did not know what went down.

And maybe someone did lie. But it is possible that they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. And they thought that it would never come out at that they lied and it would be no big deal.

They are not necessarily playing games. It is possible someone just got nervous and this was the easy way out, hoping not to piss off a customer. But sometimes, that is inevitable.

I still say address it, but be empathetic. My guess is that this is the best, fastest route to ultimately getting what you want.

my take is 'alot' of people were '#1'

why does #1 matter so much anyways.....much moreso than 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 etc...

in the end.....you all have the same watch....furthermore......its the exact same watch as the ss bezel daytona except it has a ceramic bezel!!!!!

IF the OP was truly # 1....perhaps the salesperson was simply not 'briefed' and by coincidence some guy walked in and asked if they had a ceramic daytona.......the salesperson simply said yes and sold it......no need to jump to conclusions.....

its ok....tens, hundreds of thousands more will be made

its 2016.....no watch is 'rare' anymore unless its a limited edition.....even the DSSD-blue...yeah....i said it...

You should have taken a picture of the watch / warranty card and sent it over to them, asking why it wasn't on your wrist yet.

Don't jump to conclusions. Phone the store and tell them. If they admit to it, never go back there (and let them damn well know that you won't be back).

and if they don't admit it, either they're lying or the guy with the ADs bag, and brand new daytona-C in the same area as the AD is lying.

It's possible the random guy is lying, but why would he?

Anyway, I would probably have more respect for the AD if they admit to it and offer a make good.
