fifty fathoms or ap diver?

not really the most comparable of pieces but wondering if anyone here has chosen the fifty fathoms over an ap. Previously had a black themes, ended up trading away for an aquanaut that i ended up trading out for a 15202. Absolutely love the 15202 so looking to add to the collection. Been thinking about the white dial ap diver, but have always had a soft spot for the fifty fathoms. I never did understand how bp justifies a 15k msrp tho.

IMHO there's no match...the AP diver wins.

Have owned a few AP and handled the FF on several occasions. I too have always had one on my mind.

With that said, I would prefer the diver mainly for the case, cal 3120 finishing and fit. The BP has a gorgeous dial and hands, lovely strap and unique bezel. If you consider that preowned the FF goes for ~3-4k less...it's a more than fair fight.

Good luck deciding. I would love to have both to be honest.

Same situation before.
Have you try on both watches?

tried on the FF years ago. very familiar with 42mm offshores. Like Tom was saying hard to beat AP finishing but always liked the FF dial and bezel. $15k msrp for a blancpain diver is kinda strong, but preowned pricing much more reasonable.

I like them both, but I bought a rose gold FF first. I love the look and the price was right!

Love the look of the FF, but the 15.5mm thickness rules it out for me – even though it has a lovely bracelet.
Much prefer the Bathyscaphe, which also has an attractive bracelet, and wouldn’t be a heavy as the 15710 on bracelet.
On the plus side, 120 hours PR – double the A3120’s – but pre-owned would really need to be the only way of buying, if it’s something you suspect might be flipped within a year or two.

Quite like the Aqua Lung also, with its big date at 6 – but no bracelet option, and 40mm would make it a marginal call.

I think those are very interesting pieces but do not think either would last in your collection.

A 15202 they are not.

Having had both, have to ask yourself how you want to wear and treat your watch. Size wise they wear about the same, however, the Diver is much more prone to scratches and small dings. For me the FF was a lot easier to put on and go, absolutely love my Diver, but I have to make a conscious effort to be very careful when wearing it. My BP has moved on, but it is truly to only watch I regret flipping.

Get the cheaper one and send me a check for the difference, dchang.

Another option, though not as highly recommended as what I just said, is the AP.

Interesting the comments in the FF being too big. I feel the offshore wears bigger. Went in to try on the FF since its been a few years. Almost choked when the saleslady said i better buy now since they are hard to get...

Fifty fathoms. Do like it but bp is definitely overpricing it as evidenced by thr secondary market.

I can't compare the 2, but I did own a blue Ff and absolutely loved it. The dial, the bezel, the lume, the strap, the deployment, everything about it. I bought mine preowned and sold it a yr later for the same amount.

Depends on which FF model.... But for me I would go with Blancpain in this case. The fifty fathoms is just such an iconic piece. The tribute to Aqualung in particular is an amazing piece
