RO - Lug to first link alignment

Hey all

had my 15400 for about a month now (new from AD) and love it.

one thing i started noticing yest is that the 1st link off the lug drops out of line from the lug itself - the photo shows this easier - see the red lines.

now it might have been like this from day 1, but i only became aware of it yesterday due to the fact that if i run my finger along the strap towards the lug, i notice a step up when i hit the lug.

admittedly i have a smaller wrist but i cant tell if this is something thats happened during my ownership of its its always been like this.

can 15400 owners please let me know what they see!

That’s not right – is it the same on both sides?
I'm absolutely sure the first link is not meant to move as much, no matter how small a wrist the watch is fitted to.
I’d go back to the AD, have a look at another (including gold) and see if it does the same thing, when on your wrist.

i think the length of the red lines as ive drawn, to a certain degree over-emphasise the extent of the misalignment - because if you look at the inside edge, it looks less out of line. but there is defo some protude of the lug over the bracelet first link.

the other side also protudes slightly - if both sides, then maybe that is not so unusual.

Good idea - i will pop down to the AD and check on that. i think they have the yellow gold and also the chrono too - good excuse to try those on too :)

Will check on mine if I can flex the bracelet to that extent when I get home later today

The red lines are fine – you can see the amount of deflection clearly, and from the plots.
Comparison is the best option, that way you can be sure – and a chance to ask if their watchmaker (presumably they have one) has seen the issue before.
On top of that, you can also ask APSC, in London, if it’s representative or not.

good tips PJ thx - its watches of Switz - will find out if they have one in my local branch and see what they say as the first port of call.

found the london service centre in london on websearch - brooks mews - good to know.

It just looks like the watch is a little big for your wrist, the lugs are hanging over the edge a bit.

One of the reasons I'm considering a 15300 over a 15400.

true Darren - if everything is fine, then i'll happily live with this or trade in for the older reference / new jumbo at some point.

i wanted to go new and AD, hence just went ahead with the 15400 at the time since the jumbo was like gold dust and needed quite a bit more coin!

Makes sense. I've tried on 15400's multiple times, and like them.

Out of curiosity, what size is your wrist?

annoyingly ive got one of those sticky out bony wrists!

at the wrist bone its 6.5

a bit higher up towards my forearm where it tends to nestle, its more like 6 1/3

Sorry for not getting back, I forgot to check it the other day. Tried flexing the bracelet on mine and it doesn't seem to go quite that far, but with that said its a bracelet and if worn with small wrists it will most likely soften up.

Thanks for checking tomas - i went to a couple of ADs over the weekend and they all said its normal. that said, i will keep an eye on it for a bit and at least i have AD warranty should things change. have a great week!
