Opinions for experienced AP folks needed
Hi All,
I have the opportunity of purchasing a NOS AP Safari (old model of course, with rubber pushers) or the AP 26320 ROC in SS with a SS bracelet. The price difference is about 3K with the Safari being cheaper. Any advice from the forum? Specifically, I'm not sure how the rubber pushers stand up to wear and tear, as opposed to the new ceramic? your help is greatly appreciated. thanks again. |

That's a great question. I've seen pics of worn Safaris where the pushers did look beat up. It's also a large piece...
My personal pref is the ROC. All steel baby. |

Thats a hard question those are the one of my two watches I'm consider for an AP purchase. Or the ROO Panda. Again i would look at what type of collection you have already and figure out what would fit best.

Pushers after years will get a bit of a sheen and can get small dings but really not that noticeable and can be swapped at service. They wear completely differently so I'd try them on if possible.

Thanks for the advice gents
I have a BLNR, a Hulk and a Seamaster. So, I'm missing a chrono. Either of these would fit nicely. I also have 6" wrists and am small framed- so I wanted a watch that was not monstrous. Additional advice, particularly wrt how the Safari wears would be appreciated |

It's really up to what you prefer. Both are great. I love the Safari and it looks amazing on a steel bracelet (about 2.5k). I wouldn't worry about rubber pushers. They can be replaced as mentioned.

Tough choice, dial of the Safari is nice but so is the ROC's bracelet.

Thanks everyone for your time.
Maybe splurging on a metal bracelet will be the way to go. |

I'd go ROC unless you went for new Safari.

ROC or a new ROO with ceramic pushers, but at 6 inches I kinda think they might be too big for you, especially if you have round wrists, but even flat I would imagine a ROO to be really big on you...

Thanks. Do you think the ROC will be too big also?

I have small wrists and when trying the ROC on found it wears more or less the same as the 42mm ROO in terms of length from 12 to 6, which is the main obstacle for smaller wrists
Neither overhang but on my 6.5 inch wrists it was getting close, not sure if they would fit a 6 inch wrist, your best bet is to just try them on

I actually found the ROC wears bigger as the dial is wider, the ROO is thicker but dial is more compact and was better balanced overall on me. I'm not a great fan of the ROO bracelet so the ROC has the advantage there. Pros and cons with both so you'll have to try both on.

Unfortunately, I don't live near an AD. So, I'm in a bit of pinch. Have a business trip to SF & SEA coming up. So I'll try to find an AD there.
I found an AD in SF- but any recommendations for a place to try AP in Seattle? |

The Safari (old version) is a somewhat boring ROO imho.

At 6 inches I am a little afraid that yes, but to know you need to try them on, can't know without that, and take pics not too close, up close it will look huge, best is 1-2 meters away, and from the pics it will be clear if it's ok or not. Good luck

I don't have big wrists either. Personally, I like the ROC and hope to get one soon. It wears very nicely and what a gorgeous and classy piece! |

The AD in SF (Shapur) is awful. I'd suggest making your way to Steven Silver at The Rosewood in Palo Alto.

I would entertain the 39mm ROC. Good value and interesting dials as well. Otherwise, Id prefer the safari to the ROO. Def try both on before pulling the trigger.

Just my opinion, but I've always been more drawn to ROOs than ROCs (unless all RG versions). In my collection, I've only owned RO and ROOs.

For me it's the roc no doubt unless it's an 2014 roos or older panda

Your very right Ken... Watches always bring other friends to the house
This one will be special, since I'm buying it to celebrate my 40th. So, I'm thinking carefully about which one to pull the trigger on. |

You guys are so right about Shapur. I called just to ask whether they had ANY APs in stock. They said no.
How can an AD have no watches in stock??! |
