Here is an odd 5513 for sale...
This is supposedly a 1966 5513 with a retail value of $13,500 US (according to the listing).
#1 All but one of the photos is in black and white (greyscale). #2 It comes with a "custom black bezel" #3 The buckle is devoid of any engraving on the internal clasp. #4 It looks like there is no lume on the dial. #5 One of the hands has no lume. #6 The other hands seem more consistent with radium than tritium. #7 I can't tell if the dial is gilt or not. I think it is supposed to be gilt until 1967. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's obviously not a later 5513 service dial. #8 The dial shows T>25 at 6:00 which would indicate tritium, but I thought the hands would also be tritium. Is this watch okay or not? Here is the link to the watch in question: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg |

Also this is the subtitle of the listing: “This piece has been inspected by hand, cleaned and polished by a professional jeweler. In "like new" quality.”

I do not understand the retail price part ? - I believe it is genuine from 1968
But I would want to see clear pictures of both the bracelet and # of the end links The buckle is older than the bracelet body..I cant see very well...should be riveted and it looks solid. By Custom Black Bezel they mean insert as only the insert could be missing the pearl at 12.....They have installed an aftermarket insert ...He describes this as...Comes with Original Bezel but it is missing Mother of Pearl @ 60...In my opinion the original insert is more important and never mind the missing pearl....I am sure you can find one. No papers other than their appraisal... not a big deal you can always send it for service My RSC in Athens accepts vintage Model Number: 5513 - Serial Number: 195**** Manufactured in 1966 (ca.1968 I say) Only one in stock...I would worry if he had more...lol The dial is meters first which is a plus I cant see in what condition - we got to see the movement as well All that because I do not trust their description...they are clueless and the pictures do not "talk" to me...So if you want it..go to Lexington Kentucky and look at this watch In their web site they want more money than ebay ??? I think you can get a discount well below 6K https://www.thecastlejewelry.com/col...-warranty-5573 |
