A lot of work went into this customized Rolex!
The maker had to have put in many, many hours on this watch. I kind of like it. I think it could use a little more color variation including some blue and white rhodium.

I count 14 stickies in this forum, I don't think in all my years of participation in all types of forums I've ever seen that many, makes it very difficult to find the first active thread.
I think 6 is a good number. You? |

I look for the first bold title to see what I haven't read yet. I'm okay with the stickies.

Thread moved. Not sure where to even put it. Any way to to tell 100% the movement is 100% genuine? If the movement is the rest of it isn't.

Most of these Rolex powered "marriage watches" are in fact powered by cheap pocketwatch movements with only bad Rolex engraving. Once you skeletomize, engrave or alter the movement to that degree there is virtually no way to prove it is a Rolex. Even if it is, it has been butchered so its value becomes nothing. If it was a real Rolex pocketwatch, it should have been left thast way.

I've already asked the OP at least once to put anything questionable in Watchout.

Wow that would be really difficult to even determine if there is a Rolex part in it, but someone spent a lot of time on whatever it was before it became this.

My mistake... I assumed it was a vintage Rolex movement and wasn't asking about authenticity issues. If I had even considered the possibility that I was thinking it wasn't a Rolex movement, then I would have definitely posted it here. I wasn't trying to be a headache.

I enjoy skeletonization from the likes of Jochen Benzinger and other artisans... Here is a part on which I am working right now. It is covered with wax from the guilloche process and acetone to loosen the loctite. Still needs to be deburred a little under the microscope, but the engraving is pretty clean. It will be white rhodium plated today as well. Photo taken a few minutes ago. I thought it was neat to see that someone had put so much skeletonization and engraving work into an old Rolex pocket watch movement. I'm just appreciative of that kind of work.

Atrocious "Franken" watch, sold to deceive.
I doubt even the movement was Rolex! Reported eBay EDIT Also reported his "Franken" Omega, another abortion! a

I would like to see one done by Jochen Benzinger. I would have no problem with it. As long as any Rolex text remains in tact and is not duplicated -- especially crudely. |

I think it was an original Rolex movement. The case and everything else have nothing to do with Rolex though. I don't know what to think about a watch like this. I don't like the quality of the craftsmanship at all, but if it is a skeletonized Rolex movement and the Rolex logo or coronet were originally on it and they leave it intact, but put it into a new case... I personally don't have a big problem with that.

We are talking this link? http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg Why you think its an original Rolex movement? Can you post any authentic Rolex pocket watch movements of a same design/caliber , albeit not skeletonized?

Different steel, different (no) decoration, completely different font to the rest of the movement. Look at the click and crown wheels - they are not, in my opinion original to that watch. If I get time, I will post genuine Rolex pocket watch movements A

Here is a search for Rolex pocket watch movement which shows quite a few people are re-casing these and other old Rolex pocket watch movements. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg

The designation "chronometer" means that the watch was certified by the COSC. |

That is not a Rolex movement. With 3 finger bridge, I doubt it is even Swiss.

And adding "chronometer" to a dial does not make it a chronometers.
