Remember the Dirtbag
Remember the dirtbag that was selling all of the Rolex watches on E-Bay with no brand, gold plated bands? He must be selling the bands through another sales listing in E-bay after he takes them off of the watch. He then gets way too much money from these unsuspecting buyers until they have to take it in to Rolex for service. Here is my report to E-Bay as I reported this and they are going to shut him down. This is thanks to someone who reported one of these the other night right before I was going to bed and I only reported one. I then went back the next day and reported the rest and my contact at E-bay gave me access to all of his recent completed sales to go after those as well. Here is my report to E-Bay:
%$#@: OK; here we go. All of these have gold plated bands on them as if he took the original bands off to sell them. This has greatly devalued the watches and will cause problems to any buyers trying to get service from Rolex as they will want to change the fake parts to original at great expense to the unsuspecting purchaser: http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-14...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-18...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-18...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-SO...1.c0.m14.l1318 Completed Items: http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-14...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-18...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-GO...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-SS...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-18...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-SO...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-GO...1.c0.m14.l1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-ROLEX-14...1.c0.m14.l1318 This makes 12 watches so far plus what he has bilked out of people in the past. All of these have no brand gold plated bands which have greatly devalued the watches and then people paid way too much money for the watches in the condition they are in. This guy is a dirt bag. I am appalled at his selling practices and wonder how long he has been doing this to people. He should be shut down cold. He's got to be making good money off of the bands by selling them through another name on E-bay. So he is making money hand over fist and laughing all the way to the bank. Please see that he is stopped (*&^. Terry Newton

....I sincerely hope that....
....this plays out the way we are hoping....BUT, the watches being Genuine, it may be difficult to curb him. He DOES state in the listing about the non-branded bands.
....I do AGREE that the buyers would have a difficult time, if not impossible time, getting it serviced without at least a leather strap and genuine Rol buckle etc by an RSC. ....buyers can purchase a genuine band later down the road. However, it is reasonable to assume that many buyers purchase the watch for what it is NOW, and later add a Genuine Rollie band. I have had several buyers (of bands) do that exact thing, watch now and band later when they can afford it. ....this is my $.02 worth and I'm sticking to it. Stan. |

I first noticed him when I was looking for a Rolex but I noticed as you did, that the bands were all aftermarket. However, he sell a lot of watches. Who is this clown?

I dont really see how this could qualify as a reason for ebay to shut down his auctions.
he hasnt broken any rules-he could very well just sell the head.but we will see what ebay thinks. steve m. |

IMO, a Rolex watch is the complete watch, bracelet, box, papers, etc. He's hiding the aftermarket bracelets in plain sight. I feel he is being deceiptful. Burn him.

My assumption is that he also sells the original bands for a lot of money.
When I first was approached by E-Bay to report fakes, scams, etc., I was given a special link to post just those deals. After a couple of months I was given a new link and asked to list misrepresentations as well. This, to me, is a misrepresentation as it is not disclosed what will occur when Rolex receives the watch for maintenance. The watches are way overpriced without the original band and the gold-plated band will look like crap very quickly. I was advised by my contact that they will eliminate his listings that are described in this manner. I believe firmly that what he is doing is wrong. I understand that he is disclosing the fact that the bands are aftermarket and gold-plated but he is not disclosing the potential problems down the road as he has made his money. If it won't pass the four-way test it is at least morally wrong. 1. Is it the truth? 2. Is it fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build good will and better friendships? 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Terry Newton

Caveat emptor. We all love the work you're doing, but this seems reasonable to have on eBay. It is described accurately.

I am pleased to report that E-Bay pulled all of the listings that this guy sold in this manner. Evidently they did not think this practice was very honorable either. Thanks to all who helped in this especially John who reported this to me to start with.
