Think i want to flip after 4 days
As some of you may know, I bought a 2016 Sub C No Date 4 days ago.
But I'm struggling without the date, and I honestly do feel the watch is heavy on the wrist. I have made the call to the dealer I purchased the watch from and he's been amazing, happy to take the watch back into stock and sell it on for me, I will of course see him right for dealing with this. He even said if I had kept the stickers on the watch he would have returned the full balance or offered a replacement to the same value. The watch I have earmarked to replace the Sub is the Date Just 2 (Blue or black sticks ) Has anyone ever had this situation, can see me losing maybe a £100/£200, and will serve as a lesson to not jump in so quick. |

If weight is an issue you may want to go five digit serials, 16610 etc. hollow links save weight

Well...I wouldn't flip a sub for a DJ2, but you gotta do what you gotta do...
What about flipping for the sub date? I know you say the weight is an issue, but in all honesty, I can't see a whole lot of difference in wearing a DJ2 and sub both in SS. If you do flip, my vote would be the blue stick dial. Good luck |

This hasn't happened to me as of yet. Usually I've tried a particular watch on enough where I know how it's going to wear. I'm surprised that even after 4 days, the weight hasn't disappeared. Unless you didn't wear it for 4 days straight and just kinda tried it out a couple of times.

I've wanted to ditch a watch that quickly, for sure. It wasn't something I had tried on in person, though. If you know it's not right for you, then flip it!
I can see you losing more than a few pounds though, it wouldn't be unheard of for the dealer to give you significantly less than you paid just a few days back. |

My advice would be to hold off for a while.
I'm surprised you still find the weight an issue after four days. As for the date issue....something made you choose the no-date over the date...what was it?

Totally understand - my experience was with a different brand, not Rolex, but knew after a few days of wearing the watch had to go.
Good for you, though, on not prolonging the decision and moving onto another watch. |

I'd look into a 16610. I found that to be the right compromise.

Great merchant. Go for it. The DJ is just about as tough as the Sub, lighter, more comfortable, has the date, and you'll be happy. I'd never buy a Sub without date, but that's just me. The DJ, I love.

Lose a few hundred isn't all that bad, but I'd give it a bit of time to see if you can adjust.
1, the weight is something I think you won't notice eventually. 2, not having a date is something that drove me nuts when I had my first Daytona, but then I found I didn't care after a point. Guess I'm saying you may get used to both "flaws." That said, its a pricey thing to have if it doesn't make you happy. |

I has happened to me but after a few months not days. Sell it and get the DJ is what I recommend. I haven't regretted selling the one I went cold on. [Sub C Bluesy]

If the weight is an issue, the DJII is probably as much or more than the Sub. I would wait a while before flipping, but as you already know, seems like you won't lose much money.
What other watches are in your collection?

Yeah I have toyed with the idea of the pre ceramic.... it feels amazing on wrist. but its the stamp metal clasp that puts me off....
when I drop the watch off to the dealer tomorrow and spend a bit more time with the pre ceramic and the DJ2 |

The stamped metal clasp and non-solid bracelet links are a bit part of why the pre-ceramic is lighter. It's a very functional and light clasp with a more vintage vibe, which may or may not be your thing. I prefer it, myself.

I have had a Tag F1 .... and I bought a Steinhart OVM ( Sold after a few days ) I see the Date Just as a watch that will tick all the boxes now, more than enough water resistance for me, date , PEL so it can be dressed up if needed, but it can still be casual. The sub C seems to Hold Value well, I've been offered £4500 from Watch Finder based in London, I only paid £4700 for it so that wouldn't be that painful. |

I have both watches and the DJ2 wears a lot lighter and more easily.

Try on a whole bunch of watches, I think the DJ2 will feel similar to the Subc so not sure it will be better for you.

Absolutely, the DJ2 is a great watch especially the blue sticks with fluted bezel.
I have had that feeling but the best way is just to try on the watch as many times as possible - with my last purchase I think I must have tried it on about 45 times roughly at different TD's here in Hong Kong. Which isn't that hard as I think there must be the most Rolex TD's anywhere in the world here lol |

I'd give it some more time first - you are definitely in "buyer's remorse" time frame. Your opinion may change in a week or two.

Never heard of this myself to be honest. I do hear you on the no date thing though. I see date as being a fundamental part of a watch. So that alone would bug me. Go Sub w/date and be happy.

I actually flipped a dj2 for a sub date. Honestly not much difference in weight on the wrist. Love my hulk, but the dj2 is also a great piece.

FWIW, I struggled with my first no date watch (a Daytona). But over time I got used to it. The Daytona is also significantly heavier than what I was wearing before, and I loved the extra weight. I felt like it was a reminder that I bought myself something of substance, of quality. I enjoyed feeling the extra tug on my left arm to remember that it was there.
Today, I'm wearing a MKII KeyWest (very nice modern re-interpretation of the original Rolex GMT Master) and, with a nato strap, it really feels like I'm wearing nothing at all. They each have their charms. In general, I would go more than 4 days, to see how I adjust to the new watch. I've had buyers remorse before, and I usually overcome it in a few weeks (there is a bronze Tudor sitting at home that fell into that category, but now I smile ever time I grab it!). Some changes take a little time to settle in. But, if you're not happy, and the cost is not too bad, no one would fault you for making the change. |

My only reservation about the proposed flip is the DJ is a very different watch than the Sub. Make sure that's what you really want. If you still like the looks of the Sub and are really drawn to the professional line-up, then consider the GMT because it resolves both your stated issues, weight and date.

Nuff said. Killer watch and certainly a keeper.
