Purchase from other than an AD?
I'm certain that this topic has been covered extensively in other threads but I'll try again here: I have two beautiful watches (white gold DD40 and DSSD, D-blue-that I purchased from authorized Rolex dealers) and would like to purchase the new Daytona (white dial). I understand how long a non-connected customer will have to wait for this watch and my question is-What's the harm in purchasing a Rolex from a dealer who is not authorized (Luxury Watches, for example) if the watch has a proper/confirmable serial number and the requisite warranty? Obviously, some of these places are selling this particular watch at a much-inflated premium but if one were willing to pay the price, what's the risk? Are there non authorized dealers who have better/impeccable reputations (David SW, for example) than others? Is there a true risk that any of these dealers who sell extensively on the internet will actually sell a fake? What's the general consensus?

I have one thing to say:
Authorized seller on this forum. Period. Simple as that. Look for someone with good feedback. There are lots of smoking hot BNIB deals to be had on here. My first thought when I read about purchasing a watch on here was "Hell no." Then I did some reading and it became "Hmm this could work." Finally, I looked at dealer prices online and decided to pull the trigger with an authorized seller on here. Keep in mind, a lot of guys on here have a substantial business turnover. It's in their best interest to do good business. In short...they're not going to risk selling you a fake/bunk watch and ruining their reputation. |

Assuming you go with a reputible seller who sources their watches out the back door of an AD, fills out the card, etc... the only risk is making sure that the AD was located in the USA. Otherwise you might get asked for proof of purchase when making a warranty claim.

Can independent Rolex certified watchmakers at ADs do warranty work or does it have to be at an RSC?

I've never once heard of someone having warranty work done in house or locally.
