If they can read that tiny font on God watch, you might want to consider dealing with people who respect your personal space, at best.

I find that if I meet with a repairman, Doctor, or anyone giving me a bid on some service I need I will often take off my Rolex (GMT II c two tone) or at least put it under my cuff. My thinking is if recognised the bid will go up as they may feel I can afford to pay more.
In fact I have known professionals, i.e. accountants, doctors and attorneys that would charge more if they saw a Rolex on the assumption that you could afford it.
Many will say no one notices but I believe they do.
If someone walked in to buy something you were selling with a solid gold Day Date wouldn't you feel he could afford more then someone in a timex? May not be true but is the way it is. We are all judged and sized up by first impressions like it or not.

I've worn my Pepsi GMT as my daily watch for the past 49 years and in all that time, of the tens of thousands of people I've interacted with, I would guess that fewer than 0.5% of them noticed that I was even wearing a watch, let alone what make. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people who have commented on/admired it.

When I shop and have to negotiate (car, house), Rolex is usually off. I work in sales, so when I am in front of customers, Rolex is on.

Don't under estimate people taking these little things into consideration. Pad a few more dollars if the buyer is wearing a YG Rolex? I sure would.

A seasoned salesperson will be able to tell very quickly whether or not you're a sucker, regardless of the watch on your wrist.

They are really just watches to me.

I have never considered them as having an effect on anyone.

You never have to accept the price if you are not
satisfied with it, regardless of the watch you
are wearing.

I think you are over thinking it, as many other factors figure in also. Where you live, what you drive, where you work, etc. If you have done your research and understand the value of the item or the service you are getting quoted for it is simple. Everyone likes to think that they got a great deal when more than likely, at best, you get a fair deal. Wear your watch and stop thinking anyone notice except us WIS.

As for Rolex, I am sure, as for motors like BMW.
If I need a tradesperson to quote for a job at home I do not leave my BMW on the drive.
Am certain, that if trades people think you have a bit more of the folding stuff than normal, you will pay extra for it!
IMO it stands to reason, because that's what I would do!

I think a salesperson, can notice the watch and think "if he can afford an expensive watch why not try to jack up the price to see if he will not care much and give in..."

The low down for me is to hide the watch !

They were right. :)
Seems like a mixed bag of responses - I think I'll assume I'm just a little paranoid

Agee with you on that Gus , I definitely wear Rolex on a visit to the AD.

I agree with you! I wouldn´t wear nothing premium if I am going to negotiate price.

Curious

Wearing a high end watch usually gets you better treatment when shopping for another.

I'm one of those "trades" people and I couldn't give a s**t what watch someone wears.
It makes no difference to how I price work, if someone does that, they are a dick. Having said that I don't wear any of my Rolex watches when I'm looking at prospective jobs anymore, I have the reverse happen. I've had clients think that because I wear Rolex then I must be really expensive.

Very few people ever notice or care about anyone else's watch.

I think there are plenty of other instances when one should be paranoid about their watch--shopping should not be one of them.unless you're in the slummy part of town
