DD 118138 cognac-questions

Hi folks,

I am in the market for a DD and I came across this puppy and I am tempted as it is only 5 months old and for a good price.
Gonna go see it tomorrow, before I do it, I'd like your opinions pls. Any red flags?!

DayDate deserves to be on a bracelet, if you ask me. It's one of the biggest things that makes it such an iconic watch.

I know but to be honest, even if I buy one on bracelet I'd put on a leather strap jst to keep a low profile.

So this one is good for me. I don't know yet how much I'll like the cognac dial and how versatile it is.

I've been thinking about a similar option for myself. I owned a DD 118238 with president bracelet and it was just too much bling. I think a leather strap works better for me too. I have not seen the cognac dial 118138 in person but I'm leaning more toward the rose gold 118135 with either white roman or chocolate stick dial. The rose gold is also a little more subtle, at least with my skin coloration.

I belive that my first choice would be a black dial (not available for this reference) or a rhodium (available).

If I get the watch for a good price I consider buying a rodhium dial.

Watch looks all legit, folks?
It is bought from "the watch gallery" in London. Complete set but no receipt.

The only red flag I see is that it's on a strap - a travesty! That watch belongs on a President bracelet.

Haha. That president bracelet seem to have lots of fans!
Anyhow, your opinions help. Basically this watch goes for the price of a 18000 series on gold bracelet so it's something to consider.

Not my favourite dial but that's really all personal choice

Hi,

I think that's a good solid choice for a Day-Date. I've been a big fan of the 11813x leather strap series since they came out a few years back. In fact, if ever I find myself in the market for a Day-Date again, I think the green version of the 118138 would be the one I'd be likely to go for.

Had a look at this puppy and decided the color not suitable for my style.
I could probably get it for as low as 11k but I'd have to change the
dial to rodium and also a new strap. Too much hassle.

For 11k I can get a 11800 series on a president bracelet, a better buy imo.
It was worth checking it out though.

Great watch, but I think you made the right choice. That dial is tough and the watch belongs on a president bracelet!

Very nice watch. I bought my DD on bracelet but wear it 90% of the time on leather as it is a lower profile.

You can wear a DD on leather strap, no worries

Pick from Jake's Rolex World

Edit: sorry about the pic size

Yeah for 11k could get a nice 18238 on a bracelet. A strap will only cost you about $300 max. And there are a lot of custom stuff you can do with it.

the strap is fine, but the dial is really not for me. Don't worry about the price - buy if you love it and can afford it. If not, keep looking. No matter the deal.

I don't live this dial enough. So I'm gonna pass it.

I can't argue with that.

Looks great! I wear my DD Spanish Days on a strap, I feel it makes it dressier and subtle.
