Wife upset because you bought a Rolex?

Wife thought I was a little nuts at first, never gave me any flack, now she has two and say she needs another one!

My wife had no issue when I bought my first Rolex as she knew I've been after one for quite some time but wasn't too happy 6 months later when I picked up another. She just couldn't understand why I'd want 2.

Although nothing planned I can't wait to see her reaction when number 3 arrives :)

Nope. This is exactly why we have individual checking accounts for our own personal purchases, and joint checking for house, taxes, etc.

She buys what she wants, and I buy what I want.

I think it kinda depends if the household has extra money.
If it causes stress than probably best to wait.
I'm not currently married and do really well financially, so I just ask
myself permission and the answer is usually yes...

Never. My wife comes home and I said: "Honey! I just spend 20K on a Rolex!". She replies: "Oh great! Hope you enjoy this one longer!" and she walks off to do her thing - No problem.

My rationale: I don't drink, do drugs or have girlfriends. Thus, my wife is super supportive of my ONE crazy hobby.

Like probably everybody, I have ups and downs in my career. My wife asks only do I need another piece ? And when it comes to watches...the answer of my inner voice is always YES!

She's more annoyed with my Alden shell collection than my watches. Then again she can't tell a Seiko from a Rolex... I am totally OK with that.

I've shared this before but it still makes me smile. My Dad brought a 6263 new in'70. It was left to me in '84 when he passed. If I'm wearing it when I visit my now 85 year old Mom she always comments, "Ahh...you're still wearing Dad's watch, he loved that watch. I still remember the day he brought it home...I wanted to hit him over the head with it...you know it cost over $200". Keep in mine, my beloved Mom can no longer remember what she had for breakfast.

Watches and wives, go figure.
