Men's White Mother of Pearl DateJust
So I'm looking a getting a new DateJust. Right now I have a 116234 with jubilee bracelet, white gold bezel, and blue diamond dial.
I saw the same watch but with a white mother of pearl diamond dial and it looks really nice. The dial has zero pink hue to it and has a nice retro look as mother of pearl used to be used a lot in men's jewelry and watches. However, I'm a bit worried that it will be perceived as too feminine (but that could also be said for a diamond dial too...this one has both). It's a 36mm Men's but in today's world pretty much all watch sizes are unisex. Thoughts? Just trying to see how it is generally viewed. |

Hi,
Personally, I'd say it's absolutely fine. I've got a mother-of-pearl dial on my yellow gold Cellini, and it's my favourite dial of all my watches, and indeed perhaps of any watch I've ever seen. As always with these things though, the main thing is how you feel about it. If it's the dial you want, and it ticks all your boxes and appeals to you in a way that no other dial does, then by all means go for it and don't look back. However having said that the combination of MOP and diamonds would for most people probably more land this in the category of jewellery. But again it's all about what you want and how you feel more than anything else. |

I think the white mother of pearl dial with diamonds is a great look. Here is my Yachtmaster with the white mother of pearl with diamonds and blue sapphires. I don't think it is feminine at all, just a different look for this model.
As many will say, if you like it then buy it and wear it without a second thought. I say go for it. :) This photo was from the seller when I got the watch. It really brings out the look better than any photo I could take. :) Cheers, Tim |

Something about Rolex MOP that just gives me the chills, some consider this 36mm iteration of the DJ to be feminine, however, it's a watch I thoroughly enjoy and is one of my frequently worn watches to work...
I say go for it. That YM above!

The 36mm DJ is a great size. People say it's too small. It's a classic and a great size.
People are use to seeing 45mm and larger type pocket watches strapped to peoples wrist. Most everyone I see with a large watch has an average of even smaller wrist. I have a 8.5 inch wrist and 36mm is fine to me. Your watch should accentuate your attire not dominate it. |

For me it really depends on the individual watch, obviously they're all individual i think datejusts and dayotnas really suit the MOP however I'm not a massive fan of it on a day date. I wouldn't worry about the diamonds if i were you, i think they look great with a MOP dial. If i were you I'd go for it.
