Red or dead?

Following on from Steve's thread about the green date on the 18ct GMT, I am posting my first ever poll.

Do you think Rolex will ever put Red text on a Submariner again or do you think they have consigned the idea to the bin to allow the original red and double reds to stand noble and proud in their history?

Voted for yes

Personally i think that rolex will use the red lettering again just to revive their tradition and they are going to add polished center links in order to make the watch more moders

So the bottom line is that you have an up to date watch which is more of a jewellery (competitive with the aesthetic needs of the market) but the red letters will indicate it's glory days in the past as a tool watch and will continue it's legacy as a divers watch in a more flashy way JMO

Also many will be disappointed by the polished links but the red lettering will give them a reason to own one and i think that this is a good reason too

I voted no as well. I would love to see it, but I think we will have a better chance of seeing more green writing, but only on the new ceramic version of the LV....if that even makes the cut!

I like tradition, I think it'd be good for Rolex to keep the Red as a one off thing and invent new traditions!

I agree - but my money would be on them capitalising on the appeal of 'simple red lettering' with the ethos of 'Why re-invent the wheel?'
Knowing full well it will be of appeal to new rolex owners.

As a collector - we would like them to 'leave alone' but alas. Rolex values its 'collectors' but its heart, in my opinion - is in attracting new blood to the Rolex brand.

I don't think they will....at least on divers and GMTs. I guess a big part of me wants the great vintage pieces that carried the RED banner to remain the benchmark of a glorious past.
