will rolex ever release....
I would love for Rolex to release a ss sub with blue dial and bezel, black bezel and blue dial, blue bezel and black dial. Sunburst or flat, I think either would be a huge success.
Can anyone work up renderings of these? Thanks |

I'm pretty new to the forum and by no means a Rolex expert, however I cannot fathom why Rolex would EVER release a SS version of any watch they make in PM. I personally would love to have a new GMT II C with the pepsi bezel in stainless steel but know it will never happen... who would buy the WG version? They have to keep the PM and SS models separated with the different bezels/dials. Same thing goes for the Sub with blue dial and bezel. There would be some pretty angry customers (and arguably the best customers Rolex has that are willing drop the coin for a PM watch) if a SS version of their WG bluesy watch was released later. Pretty smart on Rolex's part however annoying to the "downmarket" SS buyers like me.....
As for the blue/black combinations you mentioned my uneducated guess is that they wouldn't want to get too close to the look of the BLNR or DSSD-Blue. then again, what do I know....... |

Well then it would not be a sub, would it? (different bezel color from dial)

+1 to JM as a blue dial/blue bezel would increase the tangibility of a cheaper Smurf. As popular as it would be, I feel Rolex is far too calculative and has reason to their madness/non-madness =)

Rolex won't ever do the SS Sub with blue/blue as this is a PM (precious metal) combination. Several members have modified their SS models with either the blue dial or blue bezel and the results are stunning - look for the Modified Rolex thread and have a look there.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Rolex released a SS blue dial/bezel previously but it was just for the Asian market ?.
Since then the Smurf has been released & I'm sure it sells really well. I wouldn't be happy if I had a Smurf and a SS version was released. Smurf is my grail though, one day...

Though some collectors feel there may be some question marks reguarding the reference. This was also released with the knowledge of the mothership for a time. The watches came with black inserts. OEM Blue was inserted after the watches entered the states. Sadly over the last few years much of the history has been lost as well as owners who want to learn of the history of such a great company. |

This would compromise uniqueness of white gold version. Highly unlikely it will happen

Probably not. Too much of chance of turning into Omega with all the dial/bezel combinations.

They would for sure be success but thats not the point. The reason why the PM dials are always nicer than the stainless models is they want you to pay a premium to get a better color combination watch. I wouldn't hold your breath on a Bluesy in SS.
