Hi. I've had a couple of rolexes bought 5-10 years old. I fancy a pie pan datejust but wondering about the 15xx movements.

Can anyone tell me if they are reliable at that age, serviceable, OK for daily wear, or if there are any other pitfalls I need to know about?

+1. Awesome movement, lot's of spare parts. If you bought them 5-10 years ago, have you had any issues? Are you experiencing specific problems?

Hey thanks. I bought a sub, an explorer ii etc from mid 2000's but this will be the first 50yr old Rolex. Want to use it more or less everyday for periods of time. Hoping I won't have any issues with that kind of use - shocks, magnetism or whatever.

My wife frequently wears a 1967 Datejust that runs very well, and I have been wearing my 1964 Air-King daily for the last month, and it has gained about half a minute in that time. Both have 15xx movements.

Just like any machine, condition is everything. Either get a freshly serviced one or have it checked and serviced if it needs it. You'll love a vintage DJ. :)

Tough as nails, I have one with a rotor that makes some noise but has been diagnosed as healthy. Durable, reliable movement in my experience. I have one 1601 that I've worn regularly since 1993 that hasn't required any service and keeps excellent time.
