Deal or no deal? Be my conscience please!
Ok as I'm a serial flipper I've run out of rolex to buy lol!!
Now I've got 5 rolexs and a panerai 359 and out of them I mostly wear my hulk and SD with the Daytona as my "going out" watch. The offer has been presented to swap my 116613LB and my pam359 for a 2012 AP RO Safari chrono with an extra strap and a genuine steel bracelet complete set...... I'll still have 4 Rolex and a Tudor so I can still play here but is it worth it? Opinions as I'm a weak man and I need some stable opinions

I'd do it. The Safari is a very nice piece and you'd still have a good mix of Rolex. Add a black rubber strap and you get a nice option for a sportier look. If you've never owned AP you're in for a treat and maybe some trouble moving forward.

I couldn't let my 359 go but if you're not wearing either watch much and you're happy with the numbers then go for it. Go for the white dial

I was leaning towards the safari (white more then black) it includes a genuine stainless bracelet ( as on the black one) the genuine brown hornback and an aftermarket black with red stitching and a 2 year warranty

I would do it. It will add variety to your collection and the ROO is a great watch.

I had a 15400 and a Diver for a year. I was happy to go AP for a while, but not as happy as when I returned to Rolex and went PM.

Pull the trigger ,None of the watches you exchange are comparable to the ROO and two years warranty is perfect.

I would not do it. For another watch maybe, but that the Safari does not do it for me.

I'd do it only if you're not wearing/getting enjoyment out of the ones you're going to trade....and only for the new model safari(I like the dark subdials) just my opinion! :)

I would lean towards the black themes over the Safari but that is just me. The aftermarket spare strap for the Safari has zero value.
I do not think that this is a fantastic deal for you in any regard and unless these examples are complete with B&P, I would avoid. |

I would not do it for a RO chrono. I would do it for a mint modern RO, index dial, date only. The classic RO.
While I admire AP and RO as a model, it seems to me that AP tries to squeeze the RO model to get out as many variations as possible. Some models began to look like Hublot and I personally don't dig the busy dials and the oversized crown and pushers. Jst the way I see it.... PS: Value wise it is always better to sell the watches yourself and have the cash ready when the right watch comes your way.

That deal's slightly in your favor I think. However long-term the 116613 has the best resale of the three watches on the table. I'd probably do the trade but for the black themes rather than the Safari.

Sounds like your getting the short end of the stick... I thought LBs have a much higher resale value than an 2012 roo safari. Plus, your adding a PAM on top? You may do better selling your pieces and purchasing the roo.
Edit: sorry, I thought you had the full gold sub. T |

Yeah I'm on the fence with this one.. My heart is telling me to do it because I really love the ROO but not sure if it's worth both my watches for it.. Albeit I don't really wear them that's shouldn't be a reason just to swap I know....
Dilemmas dilemmas lol! I was leaning towards the safari just because in my eyes the black dial looks like a million other chrono's that are SS black dial... I'll sleep on it and get some perspective tomorrow..

I wouldn't do it, but I've never cared at all for the RO styling. If it works for you, then why not? You could always flip back! :-)

absolutely especially with the extra steel bracelet which is about $2k alone that is a great deal in your favour...

I like the newer Safari. They made some subtle changes that I think improved the overall look. I think it's worth adding an AP to your collection but I'd go with the black dial if given this choice.

I'm a safari fan myself, it's one of the reasons that I've not bought another watch I'm looking at now. I'm not a flipper, so until I decide, I just wait. There's something about it that just works.

I'd go for the safari or panda, for black I'd look at the new version.

Well my sleep has answered nothing lol! I've only ever regretted selling one of my watches and that was my first Daytona to buy the bluesy.... And don't get me wrong I love the LB but day to day it get zero wrist time between my SD and hulk. Now I've bought another Daytona it's my "dress shirt" watch.
Now that I've acquired the smaller watch bug the pam feels like a clock on my wrist so it doesn't get worn either.... I know I'm convincing myself but I hate regrets!

Those are two really nice watches, so I would make the trade for a "grail" piece only. I don't think the Safari qualifies as a "grail" and, in any event, you are not even sure between the Safari and the Black Themes (also not a "grail"). So, I'd hold off for sure.
BTW, you write just above that the 359 is too big for you.... The ROO will wear just as large and is visually more "present" (it's a large 42), so, another reason to slow down. Flip the two plus add cash for a 15202? Now we're talking! Amazing "grail" for which it's worth trading two great watches and a much better fit for your collection (and wrist), too. |

Sell them private party.
The ROO 42mm have horrible resale. Friends don't let friends buy a ROO 42mm. Now if you were talking about a 41mm RO or 44mm Novelty ROO, I would tell you to jump on it. |
