I love Stratford, great excuse to go, had one of the best afternoon teas ever there and half the price of the extortionate London hotels.

May I ask where the Platona was??? I have seen one before but never tried (a customer was hogging it last time I was in a Florida AD and I got fed up waiting)
I saw one at the Rolex Boutique on Bond St last week. Don't think they are that hard to see in ADs. Enjoy your day.

Why?! Because you always have to remember that they are simple employees representing prestigious brands.

Is funny when I visit any AD with running shoes, jeans and T shirt, the treatment is completely different from when I go in with a nice suit and 30k watch on my wrist.

In the end they are humas. Some are jealous some "abuse" of their work position.

Just enjoy the time pieces. And for nothing I the world don't be afraid to ask them to show you all the collection.

Annoys me to think about this...

Ironic, really as (most) staff in AD's are just retail workers earning awful salaries serving people who earn proper money with watch purchases.

I guess they need to feel important sometimes hence being smug and the attitude they give sometimes.

Fortunately, most of my experiences with AD's haven't had that element otherwise I'd feel compelled to remind them of the situation.

100% agree with you on this. I wear casual clothes 99.9% of the time, and I really wouldn't want to get dressed up to spend my money.

If I had known you were in London you could have tried my 5711 on. Agree the Platona is one heavy beast,,,,feels very special on the wrist. Good luck with the search, and I can thoroughly recommend the 5711 for smaller wrists and more under the radar and exclusive,,,,even the Rolex guy commented on the rare beast on my wrist.
Regards,
Andy
Super kind offer re: trying on your 5711 Andy, will shout next time I'm going yo London just in case you're around.

Thanks everyone else for all the comments, will maybe pop to Southampton and will deffo go to Stratford as it's a good excuse to go.

I'm not going to be put off PP by a couple of poor experiences, but in truth, likely to go for the Royal Oak as that's been the plan for a while.

As for the comment about me changing direction and going Platona, whilst it is a fantastic piece, I'm not really a PM man (now there's a statement that is bound to come back to haunt me at some point in the future!).

I agree with you that it shouldn't matter and shouldn't be necessary. I do it because in the real world, it helps grease the skids. If you want to test drive a $100,000 car, it's easier to arrange if you show up in a clean, well kept $80,000 car than in a 25 year old pickup truck, even if your bank balance is the same.

I can see how the PP staff could lose perspective as they deal with very rich people all day and then mistreat a normal buyer. The same sort of thing happened to me when I was at Uni, I made a short film and I was suddenly auditioning all these beautiful and tall women/models who were not only hanging on every word I said but also trying to impress me and make me laugh. It was a fantastic time for sure, very surreal too, but I lost perspective a bit back then and became quite dismissive of normal attractive girls I met for a few weeks... which ofc made me seem even more attractive but it wasn't cool.
