Gary Player Rolex Article
“You can imagine what a thrill that was for a young man to be wearing a Rolex watch, particularly if you were as poor as I was. No one in my family ever even dreamt of owning a Rolex watch,” says Player

“When I work on my farm, I have to be careful because it’s dusty, so I make a point of keeping them in my pocket usually when I’m working. When people are around, or when I’m at dinner, obviously I wear my watch.”
That's all you need to know - what a solid guy! |

Great article. Thinks about his gold miner dad every time he puts on his gold GMT. Impressed he wears a Deepsea black!

My club experienced the legend of "young" Gary Player July 27, 1964 when he graced our fairways with a golf clinic and exhibition in conjunction with of the 50 year anniversary of the opening of the Cape Cod Canal. Tickets were $3.00! I was 6-7 years old at the time and didn't attend but my older brother went and witnessed the event. (Left to right, our club champion at the time, Bob Cousy legendary hall of famer Boston Celtic and recently retired, Miss Cape Cod Canal :), Gary Player, and our club pro).
