Losing time when not wound daily

Hello,

I have had a 116333 for approximately 2 years now. It was purchased pre-owned and no longer under any warranty. I know it is due for servicing based off a few things that have happened over the past several months.

1) Watch stopped completely. Even when fully wound, the watch would not start. This happened twice, however after winding it, setting it down and walking away, I came back to a watch that once again had movement! (P.S. I observed the watch for 2-3 minutes after winding and no movement)

2) I am losing time, outside of the COSC specs on a daily basis. To humor myself, I said for the next week I am going to wind the watch daily and see what happens. Much to my surprise, it is holding within COSC specs when wound daily.

I wear the watch daily and am pretty active throughout the day. I would like to get some expert opinions on what could be causing this to happen. While I'm sure Rolex is not like a car dealership and selling parts you don't need, I still would like to get some sort of idea as to what I am walking into when I take it for service.

It just sounds like a watch that simply needs a service as you are instinctively aware of on a number of levels.
What you're walking into is undetermined and also entirely dependent upon whether you want the outside of the watch to be refurbished or only have the movement serviced.

Any RSC will provide a detailed quote for the service only after a full inspection of the watch in question. A service by an RSC also comes with a 2 year international service warranty.
You may to prefer to go with an independent repairer which will be more cost effective than an RSC service.
Being in the US affords you much greater access to this option, with other members on the forum able to offer some good recommendations in that regard.

Just arrange to proceed accordingly, and be done with it

I had a similar problem when I loosened the bracelet on my Explorer. Lost time, died overnight, etc. Tightened it back up and now it's running fine again. Makes me think it was not getting wound on my wrist as much when worn looser.
