LK Boutique - Rolex Boutique Melbourne
Some authorised dealers are much better than others.
However this is one authorised dealer where my personal experience leaves much to be desired. LK Boutique - Crown Towers Melbourne, 17/8 Whiteman St, Southbank, Victoria, Australia. If you are not 'a family member' (meaning you have not purchased previously from this retailer) then you are apparently a second rate citizen.

Great to get their name out there as one to watch out for.
You may have never bought from them before but little did they know the reach that you have within the Rolex community. When will these guys learn that you need to treat everyone equally as you never know who you may be dealing with. On top of that it's just good manners more importantly than anything else. I'll never understand why people think it's okay to be an arse to somebody else.

I go into the shop.
I ask if a particular model is available. I'm then asked if I have a relationship with the authorised dealer. That's it, no prior purchasing history and one is treated like one has no right or only an inferior right to make such an enquiry.

Knowing you as I do Steve I can't believe that they treated you as badly as they did.
I certainly won't go back there. I would source the CEO and explain the facts of life to him (or her). Louis or Martha...

Good to know Steve, thanks. Similar story in Sydney unless you are buying a TT Datejust

I got the same attitude from LK in Sydney's Martin Place. I think they might be thinking they are selling unobtainium.
I am glad that there are other stores selling Rolex in Sydney. I dread the day when I have to beg to buy a Rolex from them. |

I admit I am never going to qualify as a high dollar customer with an authorised dealer, but just because I haven't bought from this AD before seems to qualify me as ineligible or of a class which fails to attain the standard they require to indulge and entertain the notion of possibly selling a watch to me.

I went to LK in Martin Place Sydney a few months ago. I rode my bike into town that day (parking and traffic in CBD so much easier on bike), so had on leather jacket, jeans, boots, carrying helmet etc - the security guard at the entrance gave me a good head-to-toe assessment when I first walked in, but I was half-expecting that!
I asked to see a Milgauss, and when I took off my Daytona to try on the Milgauss, the saleslady grabbed my Daytona (without asking), got her loupe and proceeded to forensically examine my watch in detail for some time. The unspoken implication was, I was wearing a fake! She did not say a word, or explain why she was examining it with a loupe, just some very awkward silence. Made me feel a bit violated. Once she established it was genuine, her stiffness softened and she was a lot more accommodating, but by then the damage had been done, I thanked her and left.

I dare say I would not have been so composed if that kind of behaviour happened to me. No AD has the right to pick up your watch without your permission. I would tend to agree, that her behaviour was tantamount to saying she believed you were wearing a fake, as otherwise she would have made some explanatory comment or enquired beforehand as to the particular aspect of your Daytona that she was seeking to identify. So yet again we have an example of LK treating people that genuinely come into their shops like 2 bit criminals. It's just astounding. LK must be giving their staff lessons in bad manners and rudeness. Also in my experience they have very little product knowledge, so I feel sorry for the customer who goes into their shop relying upon LK's advice on any aspect of Rolex knowledge or information.

Seems like one to avoid. Not that they'd want my business anyway by the sound of it.

I have to say I had great experience with them. I had never been there before and they got me a VERY rare watch in a very short time. The staff communicated very well by phone and email when ever I had a question. Shame that you didnt have the same experience.
I would recommend them for sure based on my buying experience.

My AD, who I have bought from with great frequency, still asks "may I?" When I set my watch down to try another one on if he wants to handle it. If some stranger that only wanted to show me a watch because they "verified" against my will that my current Rolex was real grabbed my watch I would have been done at that point and walked out. Steve, if you don't already, it would be funny if you had business cards that had your name and title as owner with nothing but the website address on it. Black background, white printing, as cheap as you could make them look. I bet once they logged on it would surprise them. Bottom line is no one should have to be anyone other than themselves to get treated with dignity and respect. But sounds like they don't get that at this ad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Never thought i'd seen this in TRF but I was having same experience with LK.
I walked into the "LK - The Star Casino(Sydney)" and browse around for Datejust for my mom, and we had a bit of chat with the salesperson. We mentioned to them that we bought my wife's datejust from this store few months back. Then I tried to place my name on the list for Batman and Daytona-Ceramic and the first sentence coming from them is " oh, since you purchased your DJ here, we will place you in our existing customer lists" as it seems there are a separate list for "new customer" So it seems you will never get to those "existing customer" if you have never buy anything from them, which is absurd and you can forget about getting your hands on the sport style. BUT again, i believe this is not only happening with LK Boutique. I believe many other ADs out there are also doing the same

I didn't find quite what I was looking for while in New Zealand, but am heading to Melbourne this weekend. Thanks for this tip, I'll be avoiding them. I'd like check out some AD's while I'm in Melbourne, any recommendations?
