Daytona C vs 15400

Does anyone have experience with both of these watches? If so, which one would you choose if you wantes to have a single sports model?

15400 ! Just love the RO bracelet. The new Daytona is nice but clunky. The finishing on the RO is world class.

I had the SS Daytona and 15400. For a one and only, I'd say the Daytona since it's easier to wear everyday and not worry as much about scratches. Throw on and go. The 15400 is a nicer watch and more special, and AP finishing is top notch.

AP for me , Daytona is a nice watch. I have both, although my Daytona is the Zenith and my AP is the dual time.
Like someone mention the AP bracelet is something special ;I can't be without it. I would say that scratches wise , the AP is the less affected of all the Genta designs. Remember that the Daytona has the PCL's that are prone to scratches too. Also look at your lifestyle and wearing habits.
If you focus on value retention then Daytona wins. But if you buy right, doesn't matter that much.
Buy what you like and you will be fine either way.
Good luck

Interesting comments, I'm seriously considering adding the black 15400 to my collection.

I've flipped a couple to make way and this AP addition would result in a rotation of the white ceramic Daytona, SDc and black dial 15400.

I'm reading on here that the SS bracelet for AP scratches easily. Do you think scratches take away from the beauty of the bracelet and the watch? Can you really enjoy a watch if you are too careful wearing it?

I'd say 15400, no contest. It just has a far more significant wrist presence with that bracelet and the subtle contrast between brushed and polished surfaces on the bezel. Dayton always felt a bit small and lackluster to me. Also, the finishing/brushing on the AP is simply sublime

The scratches on the bracelet are not really noticeable when the watch is worn, it's the bezel that you should try to protect from scratches. But they are almost inevitable, and once you're done grieving over the first few, you can just relax and start enjoying the watch :)

haha cool. im waiting for my diver to come. but i figure the scratches could look cool on a watch as it gets older with you too.

In this case I would go with the AP if you have the wrists for it.

There is a RO for all wrist sizes. IF you can't go 15400, then there's the 15300 and even the 15450, which actually still has very big wrist presence for a 37mm. I've got just over 6" wrists so if I was to ever get a RO, I'd probably opt for that. 39mm is classic though...just tougher to find

As mentioned by others, they both do wear differently.

Here are mine albeit vs a 116520.

You really need to try them on to fully appreciate the wrist presence differences.

I have both the 116500 LN in black and the 15400ST in silver.
I love both but the Daytona is sportier than the Royal Oak.
I would use the Daytona as my daily driver and the Royal Oak for date nights or formal events.
But at the moment, I'm considering trading both the Daytona and the Royal Oak for a grail piece, either a Patek Nautilus 5711 or 5712 or a Rolex Sky-Dweller.

The Daytona bracelet is made of SS too, and scratches just the same.

I'd go AP.

I love my black dial :)

One day, I will add a white dial Daytona C to go with it.

Cheers

Owning a handful of Daytonas and one 26320...

I will say the 26320 gets the most wrist time.

As others have said the bracelet is so slinky and comfortable.

Between 15400 and DaytonaC, I vote for DaytonaC all the way (one of the hottest watches ever). Real competition for a Daytona C in the AP collection would be the 15202.

Both great watches but if only one do it all sports watch I'll keep the 116500. I prefer the proportions and carefree bezel.

I'd definitely choose the Daytona C over the AP in this case. I love the ceramic bezel on the new Daytonas and they're the first ones that I would actually consider buying. I've tried on the steel daytonas in the past and have felt underwhelmed by them once I put them on. I'd have one of the ceramic ones already were they not selling for practically 50% above msrp. Just like how I don't buy show tickets from scalpers at inflated prices, I wouldn't support the gratuitous upcharge these opportunists are asking for. I'll just wait. If you already have one, KEEP IT!!
