For an everyday watch, modern every time.

As part of a collection to be worn on special occasions etc, vintage.

Chaps

I am slap bang in the middle and I would opt for 16610 or 14060.

That way you get the best of both worlds.

Regards

i'd much rather wear the 114060 over a watch that's more than 20 years older than me and to which i have no connection.

That vintage has really aged well, I can imagine Fleming casting an admiring glance it's way as he scribbled and smoked away.

just from an appearance standpoint, the older sub has a pretty nice modern equivalent in the Tudor Black Bay.

As far as the 114060, meh, never did like the new design of the block lugs.

So for me, the older one for certain.

1953 for me; tried the 114060 and it didn't last.

Putting the value aside, which would you like to wear??

I know a lot of you guys on this Forum probably own both, but it will be interesting to see which one would get more wear on a daily basis...?

My choice - I think I would enjoy wearing the old one....

New by far. Never understood the old and faded craze

The new one, easier to read, better bracelet and most importantly to me it's water resistant so I can wear it anywhere.

I was born in 1953 so easy choice for me!
Plus it is close to the look of the one worn by Sean Connery in Dr No.
That sub created many Rolex buyers.

The old one belongs in a museum, I wouldn't get a watch I would be afraid to wear.

1953 Sub (no date) looks like New Tudor Black Bay.

I want good lume, and a watch I don't have to worry about, can wear every day and use but not abuse, so contemporary all the way.

But, I take my hat of to you vintage guys who preserve, conserve and can afford history regardless of the brand. J
