I love the black Sub! However, it really depends what you like.

Pre-116619 (WG "smurf"), the Sub Date did not come in the blue configuration. Either it is aftermarket, or a "bluesy" dial and insert in a 16610.
Either way, the black is the original. |

The blue on a 16610 is amazing looking... however as said, the black is the only original model made in the 5-digit SS sub date. I'd have a blue one if they were available as original though!

OR the LV 16610...but others have said...if you've came across a 16610 with a blue bezel and dial that isn't a 116619 its more certainly a fake...or franken at best...which ultimately translates into a fake....pass on that one brother....you'll get had.

As much as I like the looks of the blue...as others have stated not ever an original model. Only blue 5 digit Sub is the two tone 16613.

It's an aftermarket dial and insert.
Go black.

The sub 116619 blue in white gold is my grail watch. To get that type blue dial and blue bezel that's some serious cash.
Rolex are very clever and to get those more extravagant colours you got to throw some serous money at one. |
