D-Blue:

I have no clue what happened, but I absolutely love my D-Blue. The reason why I'm surprised is because as previously mentioned, this is my second time around. The first time I owned the d-blue, I knew within less than a week that the watch wasn't for me. I know the big difference was that at the time my toy budget only allowed for either my LVC or the D-blue, and pinning the two up against each other definitely affect my perspective on the DSSD.

Anyway, this time around I'm just in the clouds with this watch.

Side note: I removed the divers extension and I have to say the watch is super comfy now. Previously this watch just didn't feel right for whatever reason, but now that it's sized to my liking it feels almost as comfortable as my LVC, I'd go as far as to say it's within the same comfort realm is my 16710. Obviously there's the weight, but based on the fitment and after getting used to the weight I find the fit to be incredible!

Royal Oak:

This is a watch I've been day dreaming about getting on the wrist for 3-4 years. I've been seriously going back and forth for two years whether or not to prioritize getting it in the stable.

I am so so happy to have it. It's not only just stunning to look at, it's amazingly versatile. It's only been a couple days, but already I love the way it looks with everything I've worn. It's surprisingly sportier than I imagined, and obviously super stylish. It really is the type of watch you could wear with a tux, a suit, jeans and a hoodie, or sweatpants and a t-shirt.

ONLY ISSUE!! I suspect this might be a problem and it is. I'm definitely between links. No big deal as im pretty sure AP makes a 1.5 link for the watch, but not looking forward to spending any more money and going back and forth with APSC is just a pain. Hopefully by the end of this week the fitment will be perfect. For now I've decided to wear it a little big, but I've already switched it up several times! Lol. Anyhow I'm very pleased and have no regrets!

So a lot of people have comment that they've enjoyed my logic when deciding on how to build my collection. I appreciate those comments and am happy to feel validated and of course share my thought process.

I do feel that I put a lot into making decisions, but with all that said, I still very much have a "flipper" mentality. There's no denying it.

My hope is always to acquire watches that I COULD keep forever, and this RO is no different. However if I'm being honest with myself, I will say that flipping this white dialed 15400 for a blue dial, is a very real possibility. Obviously the blue dial boutique 15400 is not as easy to find and would likely cost more, so the decision to get the white dial was not entirely based on simple preference, however I did really want it more than all others, but not by much.

To be honest it's a little bit of a coin flip. All three dial variants are absolutely stunning.

How are you liking that AP? I have a Datejust 41 on my horizons but the next piece will be an AP Royal Oak. I only own Rolex and Omega pieces. Any input on finish, durability, intangibles?

So to answer your questions;

Finish - Absolutely amazing. Gets more beautiful every time I look at it. No surprised though as I'd seen this watch half a dozen times at the AD.

Durability - Only 2 days in, so not much input there. Already a few little scratches though.

Intangibles - Only thing I'll say is that while the finishing is amazing, the feel of the watch and bracelet in particular is kind of sharp at the edges and has a slightly brittle feeling. Every time I've ever looked at this watch in the past it's been completely wrapped up in stickers, so I never did get a good feel for the bracelet. It definitely is missing the heft, smoothness and warmth I'm used to in the modern Rolex.

No hair pulling at all! I have a pretty hairy arm too. My Tudor BB bracelet has been killing me lately, no issues whatsoever with this AP.

Seems like everyone who owns the D-Blue gets the perfect fit by removing the divers extension. I'd be interested to know how you feel about the weight and thickness of the case in 6 months time. I have a Tudor Big Block and although it isn't heavy, the case is relatively thick and only just slips under my shirt cuff. For whatever reason, the thickness of the case seemed to annoy me after a while (compared to the slimmer case of my SubC).

Being in between links can be REALLY frustrating. It just shows how spoiled we are with the glidelock for the dive watches and what a great innovation it is for comfort and wear.

I'll be right there with you on the stainless Datejust 41 waiting list. Either blue or white dial for me. Good input on the Royal Oak. I haven't had the opportunity to handle one yet in person. Once I get that Datejust, I'll be eyeing the Royal Oak in the dial color opposite of whatever I purchase for the Rolex.

is the the 41 or the 39 mm? i suspect if 41 the 39 would be a perfect fit.

I'm super excited to see what they release. Obviously they need to release the SS watch first, but after that I'm hoping for some cool dials. I was strongly considering getting a DJ2 to accompany my Royal Oak, but I kind of decided any situation that i'd be wearing a DJ I'd probably be more likely to grab my RO. Hence, ending up with a monster sports watch lol!

41mm 15400. I never tried on the 39mm, but it sure is a beauty. I did try it on in RG, which was like a brain overload. It was obviously awesome. I think the 41mm case is where I want to be. I'll have to wait to hear about that 1.5 link.
