as for people who have done well for themselves?

i guess i have done pretty well after originally qualifying as an architect working worldwide in hospital design - i then opted out of the rat race and established a very successful sporting agency in Scotland

i retired a few years ago due to disability with a smashed hip - you cannot stalk the hills or deep wade with a dodgy hip!

oh, i know what it is like to be poor - years ago had phone/electric and gas cut off as i could not pay the bills

i dragged myself up and swore that never again would i get into that state again - i'm now fortunate that i can buy pretty much anything i want without credit and i sleep better at night!
Look, it's a forum and realistically you can't take it too seriously, I wouldn't want to see, or expect you to take the time to email me a copy of your invoice haha - realistically, neither of us are that fussed about it, surely.

I have already said I don't disbelieve that you got a discount, so I don't know why this is about you now? Remember, this isn't what the fuss was all about at the start, was it. You questioned why I financed the purchase of that particular watch if I could afford to purchase it outright. Again, if you look close enough at my contributions to this thread, and not just in response to you, (not that I assume you'll be interested) you will see what I have written as some of my reasons - evidently, I'm not the only one who sees it that way either.

For the record and for absolute clarity, again, I was talking discounts on a SS Submariner, specifically!
Not a DJ or DD! Those models are everywhere and yes discounts are possible on those models and many others.

Interesting to hear of your achievements, well done. Again, no doubt on my part, just yours, in response to my original post. I don't bullshit and I don't suppose you do, either.

I hope you take this message the way in which its intended.

It's a toy, a non-necessity, cash only.

I don't think high end watch sales are all that brisk in the past year. Ben Bridges offered I think 12 months at zero interest. I have not bought a new Rolex in years but I'd rather negotiate a discount of some sort or better let someone else take the depreciation.

I use a credit card so I get all the points but pay it off before I pay any interest.
I see nothing wrong with those offers for 12 months with zero interest.
But taking a loan and paying interest on it for a watch seems a little crazy

Part CC part 0%

I pay a chunk with CC for miles and take 0% for 12 months. If no 0% offered, I pay with CC and pay off immediately.

Oh, and Citi has an extended warranty program where they will add 24 mos to the existing warranty of the purchased product. Ill definitely take advantage of that when the time comes.

I'm sure it's not for everyone, but that was a win-win-win in my book.

+1

Boy, if the Trusted Sellers took credit, I'd be in big trouble...

My Only caveat, is that one must have All the cash to pay off the card at any time...
