White gold or platinum wedding band...
I need to replace my wedding band. I want a simple milgrain white gold or platinum band. Any experience with white gold or platinum?

I bought a platinum ring for my wife this year on our anniversary. I prefer the brightness. And it had a machined pattern that sparkles in bright light. It cost about the same as a gold ring.

Here's WG..
I usually get it rH plated and brushed every 3-4 months. This hasn't been brushed for 2-3 months. I wear it everyday. Take it to the Jewlers and drop it off 2 hours later looks great. I'd get plat next time though and I might do that later this year if wife wants to give the nod since its her call. 10 year old ring

I have a platinum band. It's held up quite well over almost 20 years.
I really like the platinum color and it matches my wife's jewelry which is all platinum. In fact I like it so much I'm looking to pair it with a nice platinum watch.

Platinum. Otherwise you'll have to get the white gold redipped every few years to stop showing the yellowish color, depending on how hard you are with it.

I went with a platinum ring and a "beater" titanium ring (sized down), for when we are in the ocean and winter months in the high country.

from cartier website rhodium plating: to reinforce the whiteness and brilliance of white gold, it is sometimes covered with a fine layer of rhodium, a rare precious metal of the platinum family |

My wife and I have platinum Tiffany wedding bands. I joke that if I ever lose mine, I can easily buy a replacement in a major city and she'd be none the wiser.

I have platinum and it still looks great after 11 years of everyday use. It has been polished a couple of times, but it's not necessary.

Platinum all the way. Holds its color and much more durable than white gold.

Mine is white gold and although I prefer the warmth, it was originally Rhodium plated, which is very white.
Doing it over, I would go with unplated Platinum as it can be easily repolished, is slightly harder than white gold and will look great. I prefer the look of my ring now that the plating is gone and I polish it every so often myself. I wont bother with the plating again. The jeweler who designed/made my wife's wedding bands offered a solid Rhodium band. That's a cool option as it is harder and slicker than Platinum. Just be prepared for the price as it is MUCH more expensive than Platinum. |

I was considering getting myself three different bands.
Same bands, just different metals. WG/YG/RG I just don't want to cause clashing mixing the watch/band. Am I just over thinking it? |

I have brushed white gold. It's held up well over the past 4.5 years. Plan on getting a new one soon since this one is too wide and gets annoying. Maybe I'll go platinum, sounds like everyone likes theirs.

I think you are WAY over thinking it... But then again, I don't wear any yellow or rose gold, so my platinum wedding ring does match my SS watches.

Platinum. I've since moved on to RG, but my original band is .750 WG. If I were to go back, it would be Pt with no questions.

After I got my YG Daytona to pair with my gold bracelet that had been sitting in the safety deposit box for years, I had to get a YG wedding band to match. Opted for a Cartier Love ring, and am quite happy with it.
