So should I ask them to try to improve it?

Hello and welcome! Is it a 15 month old watch? Why would it have a service this early?

Exactly.
If it wasn't for the watchmaking tools I use on daily bases I wouldn't notice if my watch was running -5 or +20. The accuracy OCD should stop. |

Could it be the position that the watch is being stored overnight?

I think the question is why a 15 month old watch would have been serviced already? If done by RSC it would still be under warranty and they can, and in my opinion should, improve upon that. While +5 is within COSC (-4/+6), modern Rolexes are stated capable within -2/+2.

I would wait a couple of weeks to settle the movement, if no change then I would not be happy and would return it. Not sure why a service was carried out so early on though.

As others have said, wait and also play around with positions you lay it down at night. Crown down, crown up, flat and face up. I've noticed if i lay mine crown up at night it slows down a second or so, if i lay it face up it is nearly spot on when i wake up, and if i lay it crown down it gains a second or so.

id stop worrying , just enjoy it for what it is ,,,
a small clockwork device , shaken around all day , subjected to all sorts of positional changes , and variations in temperature ,,, and its working away happily ,, that in its self is amazing. |

my 116520 is perfect. it gains 1 sec per day and loose 1 sec at night (laying flat face up). you need to let the watch break-in for a month before consider doing any adjustment. the break-in period allows the watch to find its beat and distribute the lubricants evenly. after that, you can get it regulated.

If you want real accuracy, just get any ETA quartz which will run +/- 0.29 sec/day and never get magnetized. I'm wearing my Mondaine quartz today and it's far more accurate than any Rollie.

I have a oyster quartz. The white gold day-date. It is accurate to within + 1 second per month. (also very rare.)

how was it running before the service? is the 5sec only over 24hrs? if it was broken on the inside, is this an improvement? not trying to be a dick but the question itself opens up more questions from folks trying to assist. |

Considering the oyster quartz is an older quartz movement, very impressive indeed.

Let it settle a while. It will probably change a bit over the coming months.

I think you need to let watch work for minimum 2 week and after that time if it's still work same to resend the watch for adjust accuracy!

Amen to that one plus the many other Rolex OCD trivialities.
