1. The changes would have to make the new SD noticeably different like the Sub LV, completely different color dial or bezel.
2. Stay the same dimensions. 3. Come with at least 15-20% discount like the current model.

Oh and I'm still keeping what I have, I would only consider adding.

Why does everyone keep saying they want the SD4K to be made into a 42mm? The biggest complaint about the new Explorer 2 is that its too big on wrist and everyone wants it back in the 40mm case. Plus everyone moans the SD4K sits too thick as is so what they would make of it at 42mm I don't know. I think the watch is dimensionally perfect as it is and is worth every penny.

Sorry for the newbie question here, but I am really really close to pulling the trigger on a SD4K and it will be my first Rolex.
That said, historically what usually happens to Rolex values when a model is discontinued? I'm not looking to flip the watch. But more so, if Rolex comes out and names a replacement for the SD with a new model, will the secondary market prices go up or down usually? Just curious if I should wait until after Basel or before. ain't that the truth my friend
I could lie but I won't. None of my watches are safe. My wife and my dog...safe. Everything else on the table I would like a dome crystal and a more ergonomic caseback...even if it comes at the price of going to 42. I would prefer 40 though by a large margin. Red lettering doesn't blow my mind to be honest. |

I am completely satisfied with my SD4K. And I will most definitely be keeping it. That said, if a new version comes out that I like then I will probably add it to my collection. Even if that means waiting for the hype to die down. I really don't intend to spend more than MSRP.

The question is, will you switch if the new SD is 42mm and in green?

Nope and nope. I don't like green on a watch, it never complements anything I wear and I don't want it to be a 'feature' of my attire! Plus 42mm is too big for my skinny wrists.

My wrist has no problem to carry a 42mm but personally prefer 40mm better. If Rolex is going to release a new SD4000, just hoping that it'll be with classic red text on black dial. I not a fan of green dial, gradient or not!

The new release today is definitely not making me switch. 43mm and a cyclops is a deal breaker for me. Seeing photos only makes it seem like it still has the same size dial, slightly angled rehaut and a larger Bezel insert.
Does anyone know if the new 3235 is thicker? Pictures of the new SD makes it seem thicker than the SD4k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Put my name on the list at my AD, yes I'm #1 on the list. But that doesn't mean I'll be first. Anyway, I inquired about thickness and they don't know... but said they thought it would be the same, certainly not close to the DSSD.

Nothing except maybe lugholes. My Seiko have these and damn, it's useful for strap swap. I can drill the holes on my SDC if I'm really mad but the fact that Oyster bracelet + Glidelock is too good to be swapped out, I let go the ideas of having lugholes.
P.S: Red letters. Don't see any appeal of it, aesthetic or functional. It wont make SD miraculously go 1000ft deeper or more accurate. |

Current Sea Dweller owners - what would make you switch?
I might buy another 116600 just to keep in the safe for the off chance I lose our destroy my current 116600.
Dislike the new model because it's too big for my wrist and the added cyclops. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I won't switch, but I may add it.
The Deep Sea Blue initially got panned when it was released, and now it's one of the hottest SS Rolex offerings. I'm interested to see how the SD50th is received after it hits the ADs.

I was hoping for a domed crystal not a dome on the crystal.

Size matters... 40mm is the perfect dimension for me.
Won't sacrifice comfort just for the sake of Red texts on the dial

I'm so disappointed with 2017 release. This was supposed to be a celebration of my 50th anniversary of being me... as well as the seadweller. Yet it fails to attract my interest. I am [almost] certain I won't be buying this watch.

Nope, I still prefer my 116600.. the cyclops kills it.. the reason I sold my subc for a sd4k and yet they add cyclops on seadweller.. just could not believe it

I have got my name down at a few ADs for the new one and will add it if I can get it (in the UK everything's hard to come by). I have the SD4K and will keep it. Only worry about the new one is the size, not that bothered about the cyclops either way. Differentiates it from what I already have.
