I would go with the 422. Several years ago, I looked at the 372 and 423 (its a 422 with reserve on the dial) next to one another and went with the 423 and still have it. Its clearly a personal preference and for me it wasn't even close.

372 for me. Has to be plexi. The one plexi glow is amazing.

Well I may be biased as I just picked up my 372 this week ;) You can't go wrong with either, but for me it's the 372 - simple, and I love it's vintage good looks - to me the plexiglass is part of the charm. And unless you're going to wear it as a beater, I don't think you need to worry too much about scratches..
