Besides the blue second hand and "automatic" on the dial, I'm struggling to see the difference with the 523?

Updated movement, I believe. Hope a true Paneristi can weigh in.

I do own the PAM1523. RUpanerai is correct. The lugs are thinner as well. I believe the ecru color of the lume plots makes for a more pleasing overall design compared to the old 523.
The p.9010 movement is thinner by nearly 2mm, contains a few more parts, and has the balance bridge secured bilaterally. Finally the 1523 ships with an assolutamente strap as opposed to an alligator strap. Here are some photos. |

Personal opinion but to me, the white dials always seem so cluttered compared to similar black dial counterparts.
I do like the blue accents that the newer models have now. My favorite by far are still the boutique models with the plain, minimal, "patina-ed" markings on the pig dial. |

Although I can appreciate this watch, I am not a huge fan of it. White dial pams aren't really my thing. Also, the numbers all around the dial and the dots, with that pop of blue on the sub second hand kind of make it look cartoony to me.

I meant that I am not a true Paneristi, just a casual observer. I was not trying to throw shade on anyone else.

The (1)523 and (1)499 are strange beasties to me. I like the look of them but they look awful on my wrist.
