Sending in PM Smurf to RSC for repair. Advice needed.
Bought a WG sub c from a trusted seller 2 months ago and it stopped working. It's been wound.
It was bnib with foreign Canadian ad stamp and my name. Any advice or details on how to send it in to rsc Dallas? I know I need to include warranty card but do I call ahead? Anyone else have experience with trusted seller bought watches that need warranty work? Anyone else ever send in a 6 digit pm model for warrrant work? |

Have you tried checking back with your "trusted seller?"
He sold you a watch with a warranty; his post sales service should include assuring that warranty is honored.................. |

I've sent 2 SS pieces into Dallas RSC.
Call them and ask them to send you a mailing kit. It's a special foam padded Rolex box with full instructions on how to pack and what to include. They send them out pretty fast. Registered mail back to them by declaring full replacement value of watch. Include a letter of you have specifics that you want/don't want to do. They are very receptive and you shouldn't have any issues. |

since its an import, i'd call RSC and get clear instructions from them, or pay $50 for shipping or handling and have an AD facilitate it for you.

Call Dallas RSC at +1 214 871 0500 and ask for a shipping box. They'll go over the process with you. They also send you very clear instructions on how to ship to them.

Don't go to an AD unless you have a positive existing relationship with them. No need to add more people in the process, which leaves room for mistakes. Who's to say that they'll properly insure it? If it gets lost or damaged, who's responsible?
And for that matter, why should any AD that didn't sell you the watch and therefore didn't make any profit be expected to take their time and effort to do you a favor? This is why we do occasionally need to buy these silly things from our local vendors. So, yes, I'm in the camp that says call the RSC and deal with them directly. You should have no issues with the warranty card. You bought the watch while on vacation, right? Taking advantage of the exchange rate and all that. That's all they need to know. Rolex already made their money, it shouldn't matter where it came from.

My understanding is that Rolex provides an international and transferable warranty... Hope that hasn't changed.

I'd say since the process with the RSC is simple and straightforward, then deal with them directly, no added benefit in using a middle man. Up to you.

When I used my AD, I made sure to WRITE DOWN MYSELF on card the instructions that RSC would see w watch. The AD employee was originally going to write them, but I said heck no. This worked well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I bought my DD40 from an AD and they sent it to Dallas for warranty work. They handled shipping etc. They typed up the issue and I was clear for no polishing.
I also have the 116619 bought from a trusted seller with an international warranty card. If it needed to be sent in, I would probably ask the AD to do it but only because I have a great relationship with them. Otherwise dealing with Dallas directly is the way to go. In the past others have reported only NYC being sticklers about providing a receipt, although one person asked Dallas and they said they wanted it too, but most here haven't reported an issue. If Dallas balks I say try the one in SF. |

I bought my WG Daytona from a TS. Nearly two years later while under warranty, my Canadian sourced Daytona needed a service.
RSC Dallas performed the work under warranty, no questions asked. I just needed to mail in the warranty card. No worries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Keep in mind they might need to see a bill of sale since the AD origination is outside the US. I'd reach out to the seller to get their take on this too, you definitely want to do your due diligence on this, as RSC (at least here in NY) has been known to void the warranty and flag the watch if you present the watch without the proper documentation. I know that sounds nuts and I don't mean to scare you, but ask your trusted seller about this. |

I never bothered the TS, figured warranty is a warranty. Lo and behold, no issues. If I were in the market again, I'd go TS all the way knowing my warranty would be valid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great news! So maybe I missed it in the thread. You sent the watch in already? No problems?

Called rsc Dallas and they will honor warranty from Canadian ad with no bill of sale. I guess that could change once it is in the hands of their billing dept?
My main concern is sending a bnib 2 month old pm sub only to have it come back with dents dings and scrapes caused by a messy tech? |

Is there a RSC in Toronto? If so, why not send it there?

Exactly. Just don't tell them you bought it from the grey market (aka the euphemism "trusted seller").

I don't think I created a TS service/ warranty thread. I just sent in the watch per RSC protocol about 6 months ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This also happened to my WG Smurf almost 2 years to the day after I bought it - just stopped working and at the time that I noticed it had just been sitting in my safe for a couple months leading up to that, was weird and surprising to say the least.
