It's Incredible how they keep a Secret
Isn't it good in this day and age when everyone know's everything courtesy of the internet e.g. the new iphone months in advance, new cars etc and yet apart from the two teasers there are no real hints/pictures of the actual watches.
No watches actually left lying about in coffee shops lol, no snapped pictures from some Rolex exec's wrist while on holiday, no snaps from inside the Rolex factory. They are extremely good at the build up, aren't they? Anyway looking forward to tomorrow to see if it's a nice new SS of some description that I might be able to afford or some super precious metal model, that I can just look at the nice pictures of on someone else's wrist. Anyway looking forward to it, no matter what they bring out. Last edited by Clasper; 22 March 2017 at 04:26 AM.. Reason: Correct punctuation |

Apple outsources the production in China. What do you expect?

Private company with everything done in-house but it's still a tremendous feat.

I tried to explain to a car guy how big Baselworld was... I said imagine all brands would launch their new cars on one day without any testing leaks of any sorts etc, how nuts would car journalists go?

The timepiece industry is made up entirely of gentlemen that adhere to time-honored gentlemen's agreements to protect the secrecy of the business.

iPhone launch is a huge market moving event. We are talking a publicly traded 742B (as of today) company.
There is little incentive to leak photos of watches. |

It really is quite amazing when you think about it. A company that large and not one leak.

Rolex has voodoo dolls of the main watch journalists. Benjamin Clymer can't sleep in the run up to Basel in case anything gets leaked and he gets the blame!

Whilst it is an amazing feat, the probable reason imo is the folks that leak pics of the new iPhone etc will probably be on low wages and be able to get decent money for their level of earnings for the leaked stuff.
On the flip side I would imagine that anyone with access to the Rolex new releases will be on decent money and have a lot more to lose if caught and the level of remuneration to them wouldn't make it worth it. Obviously they could sell info to competitors but I would say they would/could end up in prison for that one. In conclusion we are all like kids on Christmas Eve waiting for the big day to see what santalex or Roleclaus has brought us :-) |

If the stolen laptop at Trump Tower is any indication, maybe our government needs to take some lessons from Rolex!

The number of employees with knowledge of new products must be big enough given the various assembly procedures etc. It certainly is impressive how the lid is kept on it all!

Me thinks there's some not so pretty career consequences if anyone gets caught leaking the goods.

This is rather incredible : hundreds of employees must know, and probably tens of thousand of those new models have been allready manufactured and no leaks !
This is huge ! |

I wonder what Rolex has in the way of a NDA. Must seem to work if everyone is tight lipped.
