Steel options: Which one would you choose?
The price point is similar. Which one would you choose?

daytona if you can get your hands on one at list price but that blue dial skydweller is probably the hottest watch to be released this year.

I'd probably buy a Daytona. I only say probably because I do think the SkyDweller complication is more useful since I wouldn't ever really use the chronograph, and if I owned all sports watches and was looking for something more dressy, I still like the SkyDweller. It is just too big for my taste.

I'd probably seriously consider swapping my 116500 for the SkyD if they were the same size and same price.
The SkyD is just a bit too big and the Daytona is the most magical perfect size for me. |

Never been a fan of both but if I had to choose I'd get the Daytona. At least it has a ceramic bezel.

Daytona for sure.
Skydweller should be a fun piece to add though. |

Agree the size of Daytona is perfect. As to the size of new SkyD... may have to try in flesh when it's available. Guess point would be its lug-to-lug length and/or how the lugs shape around the wrist.

I wish the GMT movement on the Blue SkyD was not also blue. I don't know what I'd prefer but some contrast for legibility would be nice. Between the two I'd say SkyD, but it's a really close call and I'd need to do a side by side to decide.

The Daytona is one of the few pretty Rolex pieces. By that I don't mean others are ugly, but that they are more purposeful and utilitarian.
As such it is irresisable. The Skydweller is a masterful way of displaying an annual calendar, but I feel the GMT dial is inelegant. I like the watch, but it does not draw me as much as the daytona. I'd love to see a modification to the GMT dial, or a DJ41 with the annual calendar fitted. Still take the daytona though. |

SS Daytona C. It has a sporty appeal. I'd go for the SkyD over any dive watch though.

Expect tha SS SD to be selling at a big premium over list price like the Daytona is now.

Sky Dweller. I've seen the new Daytona in the flesh and I'm not a fan.
I'd leave both behind in a zombie apocalypse though.

There is a widespread honeymoon period with the Sky at the moment.
But Daytona. The Sky has no history or heritage.

Since I already have the Daytona, easy...the SKD.
Now, if that wasn't the case, much harder decision. The GMT complication of the SKD is much more useful to me...but, dang, the Daytona is one heck of a watch. |

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. Rolex has always been stingy with the SS Daytonas. I think the SkyDs will be very attainable bc there will not be the demand like the 116500. Just my thoughts and I hope I'm right!

Skydweller. Daytona does nothing for me.
