Chance to buy a new Tudor Fastrider ... but it has a problem

Afternoon folks,

Ive had my eye on a Tudor Fastrider Black Shield in red for over a month now. I looked at a 2nd hand one which was very nice but the dealer wouldnt budge on price so I left it alone.

Now I have found a brand new Tudor locally from an AD who is dropping the Tudor line (they are my Rolex AD too). They have it for a fantastic price BUT it has a problem.

The chrono needle resets back to just a degree or two before the 12 oclock position. I played around with it a little in the store but it would always fly back to just a touch behind.

Because of my watch OCD I know misalignment would play on my mind so was just wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to recalibrate the flyback position on this watch - it uses the ETA 7753 movement. Or if I bought it, would it need to be instantly sent back to Tudor to have the caseback removed and alignment fixed internally.

Yeah...or you could use the cost of fixing it as a negotiating chip.

If its new from an AD, even if the AD is dropping the line, you still have a 2 year factory warranty with Tudor.

Buy the watch at an agreed discount because of the issue, and send it in for warranty repair from Tudor when the issue gets to a point that it actually does annoy you.

But my main question (which I kinda buried) was ... is there a method of recalibrating the fly back position manually on this movement ?

You can take the hand off and reposition it yourself if you're bold and buy a couple pieces of equipment, but I'd just let the warranty take care of it. Your extra discount is for the time lost to service. Maybe you can send it to a local Rolex certified guy for faster service. I'm not sure how that works with warranty work.

You could start-stop the chronograph very quickly and try to get it to rest at the perfect 12 position. Otherwise, there's no way to realign the chrono second hand like you can on some quartz's. You'll have to have the hands taken off and repositioned. That should be covered under warranty so I think that would be the best route for a permanent solution.

Spoke to Rolex SC in London there, 10 days to return it for recalibration - job done :D

From my experience they would do a full service to fix it.
