44 Novelty Face Switch

Been considering a new 44 for a while now and my grail would be to have the Rose Gold with one of the face options from the Ceramic 44. I've owned several APs but have never wanted to change faces let alone look into findign a face or having it done and wanted to know how involved it is. I know with Rolex its a simple process but APs are quite different animals.

Appreciate the help!

I think you would have a very difficult time sourcing the dial. AP is great about offering dial swaps on models that are available with said dial, but I seriously doubt they would entertain this. I would forget it. Sorry.

Appreciate the input. Maybe this forum could use with an AP dial / bracelet swap sub category. Could be a great way to find matches where both could be happy campers, even if one side might have to add to or ask for additional compensation.

Would be a far too small niche to get a subforum. Heck we don't even have a vintage (non rolex) sub forum or Lange etc. Too many subforums muddies the forum up.

It's a huge stretch anyone would want to do this with you. Both watches would lose substantial value in resale. 10k is my guess. Also you would need to have someone other than AP do the work which voids your warranty.

I like the anthracite dial so I understand, but the markers, logo and subdial rings will not be in RG so they will jar, and AP won't do this.

You still going to buy it? Trust me there is so much more to the watch than just the dial.

Lol. It doesn't look much different compared to the current RG. Just buy the current one.

I didn't want to write this on Tyler's incoming but as you keep on going on about the orange and won't let it go, just look at this pic, this is the most orange the dial has ever looked it's nothing like the RG case's colour. As I've said many many times before it will look rose at times and orange at times, that's just how it is. No point just picking the pics you like to state your case.

no worries

I promise its the same color though. As to how it "looks" in pics, thats another story. The case and the dial match shades perfectly IRL. In my incoming pics for example if anything the CASE looks much more like yellow gold than Rose Gold than it does in real life. I think my pictures do a good job of representing the dial color but they do lack a bit in the case color department.

Either way, the dial and case colors are the same and still match each other in various lighting conditions. Its not like in certain situations the dial all of a sudden looks different than the case. Sure sometimes it may look one way or another depending on light, but both the case and dial will look that way and not just one or the other. As to if they "look" orange, that is subjective i suppose, but they are both the same color. So if the dial is orange than so is the case. Not arguing, just trying to do my best to clarify. There is a disconnect in how the watch is perceived in picture form vs the human eye.

And in the above picture... yes the dial colors look orange that is correct, and i see it too. So this is not a case of two people not having the same color perception and seeing the same shade differently. In the below picture it does not look orange.

After seeing the new face I thought the same thing and am one happy camper.

BTW, the reason my picture looks more "orange" is that I just pasted the face from the Ceramic onto the RG which not only had different lighting but the Ceramic face might actually be a different shade altogether.

pretty sure they are the same RG dial color on both the ceramic and RG 44's. You just stumbled on a debate that long precedes your post. Some say the dial looks orange some say its just weird lighting. Its NOT orange however, and it matches the color of the RG case, but I'm not going to convince those in the "orange" camp...

This is the rolex forum version of "what color is the dress" gold and white or blue and black. Half will say gold and white and half will say blue and black... the correct answer is in real life its blue and black

Ah understood. Then my post was a bad example for color accuracy as the watch face it was pasted from a rather over exposed picture. Anyway moving on....

...moving on, the RG44, new or old, is a beautiful and indeed iconic design and combination of colours.
