Glad to hear it Scott, but I wouldn't let those morons near any of my watches again. My DD is in SF as we speak getting ready for its spa-treatment the right way. My advice is just like yours, "STAY AWAY FROM THE NYC-RSC".

How moronic is it that a premier service center of a premier watch company scratches up a watch and sends it back to the owner, especially after the owner has already complained? It's like getting service on your Porsche or Ferrari only to discover the paint is scratched.

This kind of ineptitude is ridiculous. You would like to think that occasionally a representative logs on to one of the best Rolex forums there is to see what people are saying.

I, for one, will continue to get service from my local, Swiss trained, Rolex parts account holding horologist.

RSC NY took two tries on my GMTII as well. I'm going to the Chicago independent for now on.

I had a similar issue with the NY RSC last year. Sent a watch in for warranty work. Watch came back with scratches on the caseback. I sent it back and they polished the cases out of the caseback. They did just an ok job.

Been lurking around for awhile and decided to finally register after reading about RSC problems.

My problem wasn't with the NY RSC but with the Beverly Hills RSC.

I had totally screwed up my TT Lady Datejust and it needed major servicing (don't ask - some of you would string me up if you knew how I treated my watch). I took it to Baron & Leeds in Costa Mesa, CA. $585 and 7 weeks later I get it back only to notice that the cyclops just didn't look right. Instead of magnifying the date it actually looked smaller, that is when I could see the date! There was a horrible reflection dead center in the cylops which made it impossible to see the date unless you completely blocked out any form of light.

I then start checking the cyclops from every angle to try and figure this thing out. I held the watch with the crystal facing up, and looked at it at eye level going from 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock and noticed that the cyclops was no longer a 1/2 circle (you know what I mean) but it was now a wedge shape! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The BH RSC overpolished the crystal!

I immediately called Baron & Leeds and explained the problem and told them I would be back tomorrow. When I dropped it off, the jeweler (Larry) wasn't in but they said he'd call me the following day. When he called he said he didn't see anything wrong with it and it looked fine to him. Then I told him to look at it the way I did. He then said I see exactly what you're talking about! He said he'd be sending it back to the RSC and they'd need to replace the crystal which should only take 2 weeks.

1 month later, still no watch. Larry called the RSC and told them I should have already gotten my watch back and that it was unacceptable for them to keep me waiting. I got the call the following week that my watch was back and Larry said it now looked like it should. When I picked it up Larry said the RSC kept telling him there was nothing wrong with it even after he kept telling them how to look at it. He said he finally had to draw them a picture and fax it to them. He said when he did, he got an email within 15 minutes telling him they would cover the replacement.

So, if any of you use the Beverly Hills RSC, make sure and check the cyclops on your watch!

Other than that little snafu, my watch looked great! Got it back looking brand new!

I'm glad you got your watch back. I am annoyed hearing about how Rolex New York treats people.

I have written a letter to the president and CEO of Rolex USA about my damaged watch and am awaiting a reply.

I am unwilling to let this issue go as I paid a lot of money for my watch.

Can someone help me understand: Why are so many people taking in their watches to get regulated due to slow or fast issues? Shouldn't watches come directly from Rolex perfectly regulated? From what I've read, regulation only takes a few minutes. Why isn't this done from the source? Or does something happen during transport that throws them off...? This is not a direct reply to the OP, but many have reported having to take their watches in so this thread seems to be a fit for my question.

Well I finally picked up my LV on Wednesday from RSCNY, it was running up to 14 seconds fast a day and there was a spec in-between the cyclops and the crystal. It now runs 2 seconds fast per day and they replaced the crystal. No smudges or specs on the replacement crystal which I’m happy about, but the inside of the 7 o'clock lug is scratched. It’s in-between the lug and the bracelet so you can barely see it, not enough for me to deal with RSCNY again. If I need anymore maintenance I will have my AD ship it to Dallas, I don't see myself dealing with them again.

The watch worked for six months then began losing time yet again. Ticked off with the clown masters working in the RSC NY I sent the DJ to the RSC Dallas. Dallas fixes the watch with no further problems. I think RSC NY is a joke to the Rolex name. I would work with Dallas or Bev. Hills. RSC NY can go to H@#.
NY may be regulating to the "NY MINUTE" which tends to be faster than the rest of the world... Dallas sounds a little slower and I have had work done by them as well and am very satisfied. My experiences with NYRSC however have all been quite good- no specs, smudges, scratches, etc. May depend on the time of year submitted. They get busy at certain times of the year and someone here posted a thread on it.
I wish you the best as I understand the obcession and frustration.
Peace.
