Collection Advice
Need some advice on my collection. I currently own 6 pieces:
• Rolex sub 14060 (~1994) • Rolex Explorer 114270 (~2002) • Rolex DJ 1601 (~1967) • Omega Aqua Terra 2503.80 (~2005) • Nomos Metro Gangreserve • Nomos Tangente 35mm The next pic is of the whole fam all together. Of these, the most recent acquisition was the Omega AT, which I got off ebay pretty recently, in early March or so. The next two pics are two watches I don't own but am I'm currently obsessing over. These are: • Rolex Day-Date 1803 with matte yellow Buckley dial • Rolex Pepsi GMT 1675 with nice patina I have two problems: 1. I don't have any more room in my watch box, and already feel as if I have too many watches. If I'm going to add, I sort of feel like I should have a "one in, one out" policy going forward 2. Both of these watches represent a pretty significant jump in cost from anything else I currently own. The DD would run about $6k, the GMT about $7.5k. My current most expensive watch is the sub, which I bought head-only for $3.4k. It's not really a matter of being able to afford it. I can afford it. I'm just not sure I'm ready to spend that much on a single watch. So what do you guys think? What do you think of my current collection? Should I ditch anything to make room for my current obsessions? Or just wait for the fever to pass and see how I feel in a year? |

Go for the gmt imo. Dump both nomos.

Both the DD and GMT are fantastic and in my opinion Iconic Desired vintage pieces, I would add both and sell both nomos and also one of DJ/aquaterra/Explorer the one you are least attached to, so you sell 3 and get 2...

GMT would be a nice addition to the collection, giving you a new function. Not a DD fan, in all honesty.
If it were me, I'd lose the Explorer and tangente to make room. I know this is a Rolex forum and most ppl are quick to dismiss non-Rolex, but IMHO, there is something to be said for variety. The Metro gives you that. The Explorer is another dressy-ish Rolex, which you have covered with the DJ and the potential DayDate. |
