Day Date II

Extraordinary is all I can say. JJ was right.

5 or 6 arrived at my AD today. I tried them all on including Rose Gold and Platinum diamond arctic blue. Perfection! The size is great! Same case stamp as Milgauss. Hefty, substantial and classy.

This watch makes an undeniable statement IMHO.

I can't state how impressed I was. Thoughts of divesting and going to just this watch.

I look forward to those interested trying one on and posting their thoughts...

Yes, all dummies. Identical to the original except that none of them have movements inside. They were brought in only for display.

If I ever got a Day-but Date, I guess I would get the 36mm... 40mm is the biggest I can carry and that size seems okay for a sports watch on my wrist. For a dress watch 36mm-38mm is probably better for me. Must admit though, am seeing a lot of girls wearing 36mm Datejust these days and am starting to think of not getting anything smaller than 40mm... (and I really cannot get anything larger).

Was going to get the Omega SMP, that looked bigger on me than its 41mm case diameter indicated. The 40mm Sub looked fine... but it would cost more than double the SMP. I wonder how these new DDII ones would looks on me.

But at a 27K entry level, maybe best I admire from a distance.

I think if I was spending that much money it would be a 36 mm DD
just the DD II a bit big for me to wear for dress at this point (who knows
my mind may change over time)
BUT
I sure wish they would bring out a SS DJ II, I would be all over it like flies on,
well you know what they say there..... That would be KILLER for casual dress.
heck, I wouldnt even complain if the center links were polished on that one but
polished center links on a tool watch??? Come on!

PS from the pics I have seen so far I am not as big of a fan of the blue cerachrome
on the Sub as I was with the old blue... Ill have to see one in person before

For me - perspective changed when seeing the DD II. It is pretty impressive. It looks great on and IMHO makes a statement. You walk into a sales meeting or board meeting with that beautiful piece. It will be asked about. Just seems well made. I am sure it will be a huge hit for Rolex.

Saw the Deep Sea Monster last night. Beautiful face - the writing on the ring did not bother me at all. I thought it looked great. But, it is way to chuncky for this guy. Way to thick (for me) I can see how a lot of guys would LOVE to have it. Wow, was it big! It will be fun to see one in the wild.

Those were all dummy, display ONLY models. Everything original....except no movements inside.

They were there on exhibition and then sent back to Geneva to fit the movements.
