Only regret is not buying it sooner. It's not my first PM watch but surely my favorite. I owned the BLNR for a while but it was quickly gone once I made the move to the BLRO.
My favorite GMT and favorite watch. The weight, sheen of the WG, the colors... Perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I love it...but there are so many SS watches I also love and want to own, and unless I ever get to the point where I have all of them, it's always going to be a choice between buying 2-4 SS watches for the same price as 1 BLRO.

I'm with you on all points, but the BLNR (it never won me over enough to buy one) - I love my BLRO!

The weight and the sheen of the WG will be noticeable the more you wear it and you won't want to go back to wearing your SS pieces any more. The bezel colors do more closely resemble the 6542 bezel, but really just personal preference if you prefer the red/blue over the black/blue of the BLNR. Everyone else will think you're wearing a SS watch, but maybe that's part of the appeal that only you will know that you're not.

Looks like you're selling the bluesy. I would take the proceeds from that sale and flip the BLNR and find a nice mint condition BLRO. And never look back.

You should ask yourself, how you would feel if Rolex release the BLRO in the coming months in SS?
Are you buying for the warm tone of the white gold over SS, or for the overall design and colour pairings of the watch? Personally, as beautiful as the BLRO is, I would never buy what is essentially a tool watch in PM, especially in WG. The subtle 'warmth' it offers over SS isn't enough for me to splash that kinda cash when the visual differential between the metals is so slight. |

AD visit for a BLRO
I think if you (collectively) question whether PM watches are 'worth it' in any way tells me that they're simply not for you.

I disagree. I asked something similar before I got my Daytona, and am thrilled that I did. Perhaps OP is just gathering information so he can make the best decision possible after weighing all relevant considerations.

Would I be annoyed? Sure, on some level, but, given that I have no intention of selling the watch (so future value is irrelevant) and wouldn't have bought a SS version anyway, it's an irrational reaction and wouldn't really matter to me.

Doesn't everybody, to some degree, ask this question about everything they ever purchase? The essence of trade (exchanging cash/other for goods) is deciding "whether it's worth it." Would a PM rolex be worth it to you if the price was 20 times higher?

Of course -- but there is an inherent philosophical inference - that can only be answered by the individual or group asking the question -- perceived value can only be qualified at the individual level. And is something 'worth it' may not always be a goo justification!!!! (Oh no...I'm starting to sound like my wife!!) Hahahhaa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If your on the fence don't by it. If you didn't fall in love with it when you tried it on....don't expect any comment here to help. Keep looking, if your budget is in the 20k-30k range, try an AP RO or Patek Naut on.

I debated my WG Sub for a long time, and every time I tried one on I knew it would be mine.
If you have doubts, save your money until you are sure.

You must live in Cary because the AD there didn't have much more than the usual SS pieces.
I love PM and will probably never own another SS watch again. Fortunately I like small collections! |

I bought a Pepsi dial GMT Master II in 2005 for my 30th b'day, and it has been my daily driver up until the last year or so, when I finally got it serviced/cleaned and now I wear it occasionally ( I use a TT DJII as a daily now). The GMT 16710 is a special watch: when you refer to the "original BLRO" is this the watch you are referring to? I'm only asking b/c you mentioned that you found it "garish"; the WG BLRO is the 16710 on steroids, so I m not sure how you'd find it less garish. Anyway, regarding PM watches, I bought a YG DDII for my 40th 2 years ago and have not regretted it for a second. |

AD visit for a BLRO
There are a few WG Pepsis for sale on Watch Recon, BNIB from trusted sellers, for ~$24,000.
I got a SS version because I didn't want to spring for the price of WG, but it's gorgeous in WG. I especially love the bezel on the WG model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If you are thinking about the BLRO you might already be in trouble and not be able to resist. I like the weight and look of white gold GMT but to most people it will look like stainless and not draw any attention. The lack of attention can be a good thing but when your paying that much for a watch a little attention is not all bad either. Another consideration is the white gold Daytona or Sky-Dweller. Good Luck and have fun shopping.

I have owned numerous PM watches and can tell you that they are special. Now the tough part for me has been determining if you are the person that wants to tie up that kind of money in a watch(s). I am, and have tied up that money and enjoy it. I have owned several Platinum DD II's, YG Subs and GMT, YG and RG Daytona's. I currently own two Sky-Dwellers. One in YG and the other in WG. Very special pieces to me and I really enjoy wearing them. I like the BLRO and the price, while significant, can be in the 21.5-22.5K range complete with box and papers and in good condition. If you can swing it jump in and get one. Wear it, enjoy it and you will know if you are a PM watch person. If not, flip out and you will know.
