What watches would you compliment this AP with

How would you complete a 3/4 watch collection with this beauty?

Im just wondering what you personally would like in a collection with this watch.

The reason I ask is because this watch is what I'm currently aiming for... I like to see all bases covered in a watch collection. Brand variety, Dress, Sport, Chrono, GMT, PM etc etc

For that reason I think I would go:

Rolex SubmarinerLV
Rolex DayDate (not sure which)
AP ROO
JLC Reverso Ultra thin duoface

That collection has: Brand diversity, GMT, Leather, Rubber, Steel, Carbon Fibre, Gold, Sports, Dress, Display back, sun burst dial etc

Just wondering what you personally would add to it in a collection.

In my case (I've also got an AP 44) I'm adding:

Patek 5711 on order + Rolex 43mm SeaDweller on order.

Once these are done I'm hoping for immense business success so that I can add an RM 35.

I'm similar, my core three are an AP 44, Nautilus and a Subc.

Well to go without a Rolex Diver is an unforgivable sin. I have paired the 44 Ti with my 116600. I've moved everything else and am treading carefully. Ideally I would like a 5170G but I'm far off from adding one due to limited greenbacks in the war chest

15202 would round it out very well for me.

If you can pull off an AP 44mm, then you have to have a Big Pilot IMHO. Its such a great piece, but its too big for most. AP 44mm owners obviously don't have that issue so to me its essential in a collection. It wears smaller than a ROO 44 for sure

-At least one rolex. Most say sub, but i vote GMT MasterII in any variation

-AP RO.

-Patek Aquanaut travel time

Then you have 2 on rubber, 1 on leather, 2 on bracelets.

Ok thats 5 watches... but thats as small a list as i can come up with

Love the Travel Time 5164 as well. Also a Daytona 500 would do nicely for a ceramic Rolex SS.

It might be boring, but a core of AP/PP/Rolex appeals to me. If you went Nautilus, then a ALS or FPJ dress watch would make a good 4th.

I have a jaeger master compressor memovox and a rolex milgauss z-blue to compliment my AP...all comes down to personal preference and budget!

I find the focus of my collection constantly changing. First it was looking to cover the different types of watches. Divers, chrono, dress, GMT, and etc... That evolved into wanting some diversity in brands. What I found was there were watches I wore a lot more often because I liked it better than the rest.

Point being, trying to cover the different categories or brands had me buying pieces that I wouldn't necessarily buy as my only watch. If I could only have one watch, would I buy an RG44 or CE44 ROO? YES. Would I buy an IWC 7 day or Pam 674 (both in my current collection) as an only watch? NO!

Going forward, I plan on only buying watches that can stand on it's own as an only watch. That being said, I will me moving my PAM 674 when my Rolex SKYD blue comes in. The IWC will be moving on at some point in the near future as well to make room in the watch box. My wife limits me to 5 pieces. lol..

Future watches on my want list is pretty short at this point. ALS Platinum Dato and a Patek 5712g or 5726a. Having said all that, I think my 2 44ROO's will be a long term duet in my collection. Good luck in planning out your collection. Planning and anticipating is half the fun. Enjoy it!

You have an all black there. So you need some steel. Either a daytona SS, ROC, or 15202 would work. If you have really a budget the twin time patek nautilus.

Then some gold with a strap, I like the RG 44. Then some all gold, either a YG sub or a RG 5711.

Then maybe you could get some steel and a strap. That cheap RM I forgot the number I think 016 would work nicely. Or the moon phase nautilus on a strap. Actually, a racing ROO would do nicely here as well. The schumacher steel would be a great choice.

I picked watches all basically under 50k for the sake of the conversation. If I were going over 50k, I'd have a completely different list for you :). I like the advice above. Pick the watches as if that was going to be your only one.

That's how I been doing it from the beginning.

this is the best consensus you are going to get. Minimum number of watches. Getting this kind of agreement on what watches is another matter

Actually I wish. But someone else posted on here recently that an AD was offering them 46% or something like that.

I think you should go bash him now instead of obsessing over me every day of your life . I'm flattered though.

You could go two ways IMO. Go dressy: PP or Rolex PM. Or go more casual like a Sub or date just. Since you have an AP I'd say try something different to change it up.

Well its a super casual super lightweight chrono. Maybe something completely different. A dressier watch or a chunky diver, on metal straps.
